I would appreciate explanations or at least clues into
the physics behind the mystic sparks I describe below.
These felt more like a hummingbird than a normal static
spark and occurred in a humid environment when I was
in the middle of the room and not near any metal.
Also they seemed to bounce off me rather than be absorbed.
---------------------------------------------------
Over the years I have had numerous flying mystic spark
experiences which I attribute to Valakhilya. Why?
Because the first time such a living spark hit me
was when my then yoga teacher Gioia Irwin was
(as I found out much later)
demonstrating Valakhilyasana. The sensation was
more like a hummingbird than a normal static spark.

I have referred to Valakhilya as "little messengers of
the sun" but I'm not sure if I got that somewhere or
just made it up. In the glossary of B.K.S. Iyengar's
Light on Yoga they are described as "A class of divine
personages of the size of a thumb, produced from the
Creator's body, and said to precede the chariot of
the sun."

From that I consider these Valakhilya to be a form
of angels. Do you agree with that statement?

But I haven't had such a mystic living spark sensation
for a few years now, and hope they will return soon.

If you are interessted there is a little more detail
on http://www.nfld.com/~dalton/sparks.html which is
a subsubpage of my Salmon on the Thorns page (see below).

I think sparks are mentioned in gnostic texts and in
the bible I found one statement to the effect that when
sparks went upwards (which I interpret as the sparks
going away) there will be trouble.

One more comment on the sparks: Several years ago I enquired
about these sparks on several newsgroups (and about Kundalini)
and on a mailing list. Someone (whose name I won't give since
I don't have permission) on the mailing list replied with:

"after i emailed you earlier i randomly opened "Energies of
Transformation: A guide to the Kundalini Process" by Bonnie
Greenwell and found:

`aurobindo said that sparks or movements of light indicated
the play of forces in or around consciousness...' p 57"
