Here is a bit from my followup post on the
Defense of the Chair thread on alt.religion.druid .
----------------------
Also I don't know if there are such [deity group] meetings but perhaps
some of you can find out, many who sing Aphrodite's
nightie, which should be short but it's long [but transparent
maybe?]...

OK I checked and lots of versions are listed at
http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=Aphrodite+%22good+enough+for+me%22&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

but basically there are many versions of the song, some
called "Gimme that Old Time Religion" and each verse
ends with "And that's good enough for me" or a variant.

But wow, Sarah McLachlan has a song called Good Enough
and could be like Aphrodite to me like Adonis if she wanted
so any Roman pagans out there should advise her on how
to proceed. But I doubt she was thinking of the
Gimme that Old Time Religion song when she wrote Good Enough.

Also of course some members of the [deity] group may each have many names.
And I don't expect Sarah and I to be deified by anyone
during our lives or even afterward, and I don't right now
assign a high probability to Sarah grabbing me anyway.

Also other pairs other than Aphrodite and Adonis could
be Oonagh and Finn, maybe The Turquoise Bee and his lover,
maybe Solomon and The Shulamite and lots more, but anyway
I discuss my similarity to Adonis on
http://www.nfld.com/~dalton/dtales.html
where I relate the boar's tusk/spear/thorns to my
naked thorn hill climb and the purple? rose(s) to
my glowing sky blue rose vision but I haven't investigated
the Adonis story further and in fact don't even have
a parallels section on my web page for Roman paganism
mentioning him, but just mention him on the main page.

But that page is a little out of date and I may extract
from my posts of the last few days an spend a couple
of hours updating it on Saturday.

So has Sarah McLachlan ever played in Italy other than
when she sang for the pope?

Also I associate the blue rose vision with Gaia the
blue planet earth, although perhaps Aphrodite was
an aspect of Gaia or something, and I just sort
of tantrically link Sarah and Gaia for now, but
she is married (and mother of India).

My italian friends include Phyllis Reffo of Vancouver
who used to be my housemate but wouldn't give me
her family eggplant pasta sauce secret recipe, plus
I went to some italian spots on Commercial Drive, Vancouver
some but I think many italians have moved out from
there to the suburbs, but not all, but anyway my
maternal grandmother had maiden name Boland which
I think was a travelling Irish name traced back to
Italian Roma[ni] Bolanda maybe.

My original post with this title was cancelled I guess because
I posted an english language post to it.cultura.newage so I
am resubmitting it (and hoping that some Italian pagans and/or
mythology experts might be on soc.culture.italian). Also I certainly
will look in the library soon for versions of the tale of Adonis
and Aphrodite but am also interested in pointers to good web page
versions and/or interpretations if you know of any. There is
also some similarity to the original German Sleeping Beauty
story which I will ask about on alt.pagan,alt.mythology
and soc.culture.german shortly (but not on alt.music.s-mclachlan ).

And even if Adonis was similar to Solomon, The Turquoise Bee,
maybe Kama, the guy in the original German Sleeping Beauty story,
maybe the Iowa Dakota Salmon youth, Finn and others I certainly
haven't proven myself poetically or otherwise enough yet to say
I am similar to him (and it should be more up to others to
say if I am similar to him or not, not me, I guess).

So here is the background behind my request. It is
slightly obsessive (though I certainly got strong up
close signs of interest from Sarah in 1995) so I will
post an apology followup just to alt.music.s-mclachlan
shortly.

That's all interesting Davis,
please post it also in the forum you find on
www.lacompagnia.bo.it

there you can find different topics and people strongly interested in your
message.

Cheers

Thank you, Arianne, but that site seems to be refusing my
connection so either it is down today or refuses connections
from sites outside Italy, but I will try again later and
tomorrow as well, but feel free to pass on my original
post including the web page address if you like. I'm
sure parallels between Adonis and others such as Jesus,
Osiris and Dionysus have been drawn before so my site
isn't extremely new in that regard though I also draw
parallels between Adonis and other love heroes such as
The Turquoise Bee, the original German Sleeping Beauty
hero, maybe Solomon (rose of Sharon), and maybe Kama though I
haven't researched him yet, and maybe a figure resulting in the
Persian/Iranian/Sufi Nightingale and the Rose tradition. Also
some figures on my web page are said to have hung on a tree or
cross (e.g. Odin, Herne, Jesus) and others to have been pierced
by thorns (Turquoise Bee, maybe Adonis, German Sleeping
Beauty hero) but certainly being naked on the layers of dense
thorn vines on a steep hill is like being on the tree/cross.

But I forget now if I actually saw a version of the
Adonis/Aphrodite tale involving piercing by thorns and
won't search today but let me know if you know of one,
but even if it is just blood from boar's tusk or spear
turning into rose or roses I associate that with my
blood (not much since they were thick thorns) on the
thorns with the blue rose vision just before the top.
