This is a collection of traditional as well as original music from a
couple of individuals (Will Thomas and Lynn Mahoney) with a history of
singing together since 1999. They met at Village Harmony (a
collection of choral, world music and harmony singing activities).
They bring with them a love of music and an appreciation of the
potentials in vocal harmonies.

Even when the words are unintelligible (being in a foreign tongue),
the sound of this talented duo – with occasional assistance – carries
you into a place of peace and harmony. Much of this music would, I
feel, be suitable for meditation. Many people don't associate
meditation with a Christian orientation, but there is a long tradition
for it. These songs are drawn from many nations, and cover centuries
of musical evolution. There are juxtapositions of modern poetry and
medieval music which are so seamless it is hard to know where one ends
and the other begins. They fit together so well it is hard to believe
that they were not created for each other.

There are long standing traditions of vocal arrangements in cultures
which the average individual will never experience without listening
to this wonderful presentation. I am amazed that “Windborne” has been
around for as long as it has and that I never heard about them. I am
pleased that, being a relatively local group, there is a possibility I
may get to hear them perform in person.

Perhaps the most unusual thing about this blending is how seamless it
is. It is easy to pick out the foreign-sourced vocals, but just try
to pick out when the various musical underlayments were produced.
Without a doubt, this is the most unique album I have had the pleasure
to listening to in a long time. It is also unique in that I am not
quite sure how to classify it. It is thoroughly enjoyable, however
you wish to classify it.
