Has anyone used paypal to transfer money from USA to and Aus bank account?

I added a my ANZ account and got this message....

"Remember, Australian bank accounts must be denominated in Australian
Dollars. If your home country bank account is not denominated in your home
country's currency, attempts to withdraw funds into your bank account will
fail and you will be charged a $20.00 AUD return fee"

It seems simple enough, of course my home account is in AUD, can you have
USD accounts in Australia? Why would they even ask this?

Possibly some Australian bank accounts are denominated in other currencies.
HSBC operates here, for instance. I would imagine that you could open an
account with them denominated in USD.

But more likely it's a bit of "boilerplate" text intended for any country
and they just plug "Australian" and "$20.00 AUD" into the appropriate
slots.

To answer your first question, yes, I transfer money into an Australian
bank account. If I want to send some overseas, it comes off my credit card
(assuming I don't have a PayPal balance already, which I usually do, given
the number of sales I make in the US), and if I bring some home it goes
into my bank account here.

There are fees involved at each transfer, but show me international
transactions where this isn't so.

It's convenient for midlevel transactions. If it's only a few bucks, I
might just use greenbacks in an airmail letter, I usually have a few
kicking round and it's hardly worthwhile going to the bank to change them.
If it's a couple of thousand dollars, Western Union's my choice. But for
most of the trading I do, PayPal works fine for me.

Yes you can have USD accounts but why bother unless you are hoping the
exchange rate will change soon.

No problems sending money back to OZ. Takes a couple of days to show up is
all.

Muggins will give you a hand with timezones. He can sometimes get the right
