Yes, I have been banned by the moderator of antiwarcom, although the team
that brought this about are claiming otherwise to the readers I can no
longer reach -- yet when I go to re-subscribe this is the message I get:

The antiwarcom@yahoogroups moderator began blocking my posts exactly as a
series of attacks on the small-plane thesis were posted to that group,
although at first I could receive mail, my posts were being "disapproved"
individually. However other subscribers to antiwarcom were willing to post
my rebuttal -- which essentially pointed out that I never said any of the
ridicululous and contemptible things that were being attributed to me by
anonymous poster "fromredbird" and "TheGod12345" and which stated the 16
photo-evidence supported proofs of the Boeing overfly and actual attack by a
smaller aircraft equipped with missile. I challenged both of these posters
and another, named "Bob" to answer even one of these points that have been
endorsed by Professor Dewdney, Jim Hoffman. Longspaugh and others associated
with Physics 911 who have also concluded the validity of the :small-plane"
finding.
Now, still denying I have been banned -- and still banning me -- many posts
have appeared on the group, forwarded to me by subscribers, showing that,
now that I am safely gone and cannot rebutt, they are posting messages
suggesting that I need psychiatric treatment and mentioning that my wife has
insisted that I seek help.
I find it significant that the moderator has no problem with this turn in
the discussion of the small-plane evidence, in that not once offering a
concret objection or counter evidence to any of the 16 lines of proof each
from hard evidence and witness testimony -- the attacks have gone from
fabricated misrepresentations, attributing totally false and ludicrous and
defaming representations of what I claim to be true, to now, in my absense,
attacking my mental stablility while I am blocked from defending myself.
I am not telling you this for my good health, rather I want to point out to
those feeble minded enough to fall for this dirty "number" being worked on
me -- that their very tactic shows their involvment in the coverup -- it
exposes them, despite the occasional post from them saying things they know
we like to hear -- that the moderator of antiwarcom and the operatives who
cooperated in this coordinated attack on the best-case evidence are working
to assist the coverup of the 9-11 mass-murders, are, in effect, accomplices

9-11 Frame-up: The Pentagon Evidence
Here is the critical information needed to derive an informed understanding
of what really happened on September 11, 2001:
Consider what citizen investigators have uncovered regarding the alleged
"attack" on the Pentagon:
1. Pentagon security camera shows
a. Too short a plane
b. Smoke trail of a missile being fired
c. White-hot flash explosion consistent with a missile warhead
2. Photos show wrong crash imprint in the wall
3. Photos show and wrong flash-powder burn darkening the wall
4. Downed lampposts and witnesses each identified a different
approach path to the Pentagon, the Boeing's and the killer jet's
5. Wrong kind of debris
6. Single piece of right kind of debris shown to have been
found on the opposite side of the approach path from
the side of the plane where that particular piece had
to have come from.
7. Witnesses also
a. heard a missile
b. heard a sonic boom prior to blast
c. smelled burning chordite after the blast
d. saw a radar blip behaving like a jet-fighter blip
8. No photos of wreckage from inside consistent with the crash

I have given the witnesses statements of those who noticed the
plane coming in outside of the normal path of incoming airliners
at Reagan National. You are right. Several did notice.
And many saw the Boeing come in over the Sheraton Hotel, over
the Naval Annex, over the Citgo gas station, over the head of
the gardener cutting the grass along the southmost piece of
Alrington Cemetery between the Annex and the gas station,
There reported observation of the path of the Boeing as it
approached the Pentagon rendevous is just one line of proof
that the Boeing was not the killer jet. You see, if the plane
came in over those locations then a) it could not have hit the
first lamppost that was knocked down (which had been standing
at the southest corner of the bridge in the center of the Pentagon
parking access cloverleaf; and 2) it could not have come in at
the 55-degree angle that civil engineers have identified as the
angle at which the true killer jet made its first-floor entry.
So these many witnesses where there, and their testimony
supports the "small-plane" finding.
There is one point where I beg to differ. Very few saw the
actual crash because
1) Washington Blvd. rises to allow the underpass to the
parking area -- so that those who noticed the Boeing from
the Columbia Pike and highway 395 could not see the
first-floor level where the killer jet hit;
2) Most of the area west of the west wall is Arlington Cemetery,
i.e., dead people;
3) Many were distracted by the act of driving -- and minds not
expecting things often miss them, especially in a frame of
just a few seconds.

I merely point to the pictures. The "small-plane" finding is entirely
"data driven."
You characterize my data-derived conclusions as "assertions." An
assertion is a statement one makes about something that is
in question. Far from "asserting," I am demonstrating something
merely by pointing to the photographic evidence which tells
exactly what happened simply by direct inspection. You know the
drill: "Too-short a plane, visible missile smoke trail, inappropriate
white flash and all the other impossible inconsistencies that
disprove the official story.
Also, when one "asserts" something to be true -- it means they
state it to be true emphatically but without evidence. That most
certainly is not the case here.

The fact is that I am the first to have noted the missile trail on the
internet.
I am one of the first to remark on the white-hot initial explosion being
inappropriate for an aluminum plane with kerosene hitting a brick, concrete,
limestone office building.
I was the first with both arguments for the too-short plane:
1) The "Stegosaurus proof" of the parking pass machine in the forground
only covering a length of not quite five tail fins in a row, when a Boeing
757
is longer than six tail fins would be aligned along its back; and
2) the fact that the plane in the security cam picture #1 is obviously
shorter
than the height of the Pentagon (71'ft.) like the F-16, whereas the Boeing
757 is a tad over twice as long as the building is high (155 ft.)
That should settle everying, right there. But people pretended not
to get it, and so I looked for and found more than a half dozen other
proofs that the Boeing did not crash.

Your "awareness" is not good enough for me. I believe the Pentagon
spokesman was not lying when he said that the pictures show substantially
what was in the originals. I believe that what they did was to select only
sequence shots that do not show the killer jet, being careful to pick
exactly a shot where the plane is concealed behind the parking-pass machine
(except for the tail fin). The dates and times were modified to conceal the
fact that the selection of shots are not the complete sequence.
People have made a lot of "discoloration" in the second shot -- but this
is the result of the bright "flash powder" effect of the white hot
explosion -- it brightens the entire landscape, which reflects it in all
directions -- doubtless to blind the observers for the two seconds
necessary for the Boeing to "dissappear" behind the subsequent red and
orange flames and the black smoke from the crash and jet fuel.
All of this has been gone over again and again for the last since March of
2002, when the video shots were released.

The released the true frame that happened not to show the small plane that

The FBI saw Nick Berg, the American civilian beheaded in Iraq, three times
while he was being detained by Iraqi police, the U.S.-led occupation
authority said Wednesday.

home? "U.S. authorities were notified, the FBI visited with Mr. Berg when
he was in Iraqi police detention and determined that he was not involved in
any criminal or terrorist activities," Senor said. "They had contact with

spokesman in Iraq, said U.S. military police [the torturers!] had seen Berg
during his detention to make sure he was being fed and treated properly.

according to his parents. Berg's communications to his parents stopped on
March 24 and he told them later he was jailed by Iraqi officials after being
picked up at a checkpoint in Mosul. On April 5, the Bergs filed a lawsuit

The next day, he was released.

Clues about worse photos and videos of abuse may be found in Israeli files
about similar abuse of Palestinian and other Arab prisoners. In March 2000,
a lawyer for a Lebanese prisoner kidnapped in 1994 by the Israelis in
Lebanon claimed that his client had been subjected to torture, including
rape. The type of compensation offered by Rumsfeld in his testimony has its
roots in cases of Israeli torture of Arabs. In the case of the Lebanese man,
said to have been raped by his Israeli captors, his lawyer demanded
compensation of $1.47 million. The Public Committee Against Torture in
Israel documented the types of torture meted out on Arab prisoners. Many of
the tactics coincide with those contained in the Taguba report: beatings and
prolonged periods handcuffed to furniture. In an article in the December
1998 issue of The Progressive, Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb reported on the treatment
given to a 23-year old Palestinian held on "administrative detention." The
prisoner was "cuffed behind a chair 17 hours a day for 120 days . . . [he]
had his head covered with a sack, which was often dipped in urine or feces.
Guards played loud music right next to his ears and frequently taunted him
with threats of physical and sexual violence." If additional photos and
videos document such practices, the Bush administration and the American
people have, indeed, "seen nothing yet."
Although it is still largely undocumented if any of the contractor named in
the report of General Antonio Taguba were associated with the Israeli
military or intelligence services, it is noteworthy that one, John Israel,
who was identified in the report as being employed by both CACI
International of Arlington, Virginia, and Titan, Inc., of San Diego, may not
have even been a U.S. citizen. The Taguba report states that Israel did not
have a security clearance, a requirement for employment as an interrogator
for CACI. According to CACI's web site, "a Top Secret Clearance (TS) that is
current and US citizenship" are required for CACI interrogators working in
Iraq. In addition, CACI requires that its interrogators "have at least two
years experience as a military policeman or similar type of law
enforcement/intelligence agency whereby the individual utilized interviewing
techniques."
Speculation that "John Israel" may be an intelligence cover name has fueled
speculation whether this individual could have been one of a number of
Israeli interrogators hired under a classified contract. Because U.S.
citizenship and documentation thereof are requirements for a U.S. security
clearance, Israeli citizens would not be permitted to hold a Top Secret
clearance. However, dual U.S.-Israeli citizens could have satisfied Pentagon
requirements that interrogators hold U.S. citizenship and a Top Secret
clearance. Although the Taguba report refers twice to Israel as an employee
of Titan, the company claims he is one of their sub-contractors. CACI stated
that one of the men listed in the report "is not and never has been a CACI
employee" without providing more detail. A U.S. intelligence source revealed
that in the world of intelligence "carve out" subcontracts such confusion is
often the case with "plausible deniability" being a foremost concern.
In fact, the Taguba report does reference the presence of non-U.S. and
non-Iraqi interrogators at Abu Ghraib. The report states, "In general, US
civilian contract personnel (Titan Corporation, CACI, etc), third country
nationals, and local contractors do not appear to be properly supervised
within the detention facility at Abu Ghraib."
The Pentagon is clearly concerned about the outing of the Taguba report and
its references to CACI, Titan, and third country nationals, which could
permanently damage U.S. relations with Arab and Islamic nations. The
Pentagon's angst may explain why the Taguba report is classified Secret No
Foreign Dissemination.
The leak of the Taguba report was so radioactive, Daniel R. Dunn, the
Information Assurance Officer for Douglas Feith's Office of the Under
Secretary of Defense, Policy (Policy Automation Services Security Team),
sent a May 6, 2004, For Official Use Only Urgent E-mail to Pentagon staffers
stating, "THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THIS REPORT IS CLASSIFIED; DO NOT GO
TO FOX NEWS TO READ OR OBTAIN A COPY." Considering Feith's close ties to the
Israelis, such a reaction by his top computer security officer, a Certified
Information System Security Professional (CISSP), is understandable,
although considering the fact that CISSPs are to act on behalf of the public
good, it is also regrettable..
The reference to "third country nationals" in a report that restricts its
dissemination to U.S. coalition partners (Great Britain, Poland, Italy,
etc.) is another indication of the possible involvement of Israelis in the
interrogation of Iraqi prisoners. Knowledge that the U.S. may have been
using Israeli interrogators could have severely fractured the Bush
administration's tenuous "coalition of the willing' in Iraq. General
Taguba's findings were transmitted to the Coalition Forces Land Component
Command on March 9, 2004, just six days before the Spanish general election,
one that the opposition anti-Iraq war Socialists won. The Spanish ultimately
withdrew their forces from Iraq.
During his testimony before the Senate Armed Service Committee, Rumsfeld was
pressed upon by Senator John McCain about the role of the private
contractors in the interrogations and abuse. McCain asked Rumsfeld four
pertinent questions, ". . . who was in charge? What agency or private
contractor was in charge of the interrogations? Did they have authority over
the guards? And what were the instructions that they gave to the guards?"
When Rumsfeld had problems answering McCain's question, Lt. Gen. Lance
Smith, the Deputy Commander of the U.S. Central Command, said there were 37
contract interrogators used in Abu Ghraib. The two named contractors, CACI
and Titan, have close ties to the Israeli military and technology
communities. Last January 14, after Provost Marshal General of the Army,
Major General Donald Ryder, had already uncovered abuse at Abu Ghraib,
CACI's President and CEO, Dr. J.P. (Jack) London was receiving the Jerusalem
Fund of Aish HaTorah's Albert Einstein Technology award at the Jerusalem
City Hall, with right-wing Likud politician Israeli Defense Minister Shaul
Mofaz and ultra-Orthodox United Torah Judaism party Jerusalem Mayor Uri
Lupolianski in attendance. Oddly, CACI waited until February 2 to publicly
announce the award in a press release. CACI has also received grants from
U.S.-Israeli bi-national foundations.
Titan also has had close connections to Israeli interests. After his stint
as CIA Director, James Woolsey served as a Titan director. Woolsey is an
architect of America's Iraq policy and the chief proponent of and lobbyist
for Ahmad Chalabi of the Iraqi National Congress. An adviser to the
neo-conservative Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, Jewish Institute
of National Security Affairs, Project for the New American Century, Center
for Security Policy, Freedom House, and Committee for the Liberation of
Iraq, Woolsey is close to Stephen Cambone, the Undersecretary of Defense for
Intelligence, a key person in the chain of command who would have not only
known about the torture tactics used by U.S. and Israeli interrogators in
Iraq but who would have also approved them. Cambone was associated with the
Project for the New American Century and is viewed as a member of Rumsfeld's
neo-conservative "cabal" within the Pentagon.
Another person considered by Pentagon insiders to have been knowledgeable
about the treatment of Iraqi prisoners is U.S. Army Col. Steven Bucci, a
Green Beret and Rumsfeld's military assistant and chief traffic cop for the
information flow to the Defense Secretary. According to Pentagon insiders,
Bucci was involved in the direction of a special covert operations unit
composed of former U.S. special operations personnel who answered to the
Pentagon rather than the CIA's Special Activities Division, the agency's own
paramilitary group. The Pentagon group included Arabic linguists and former
members of the Green Berets and Delta Force who operated covertly in Iraq,
Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan. Titan also uses linguists
trained in the languages (Arabic, Dari, Farsi, Pashto, Urdu, and Tajik) of
those same countries. It is not known if a link exists between Rumsfeld's
covert operations unit and Titan's covert operations linguists.
Another Titan employee named in the Taguba report is Adel L. Nakhla. Nakhla
is a name common among Egypt's Coptic Christian community, however, it is
not known if Adel Nakhla is either an Egyptian-American or a national of
Egypt. A CACI employee identified in the report, Steven Stephanowicz, is
referred to as "Stefanowicz" in a number of articles on the prison abuse.
Stefanowicz is the spelling used by Joe Ryan, another CACI employee assigned
with Stefanowicz to Abu Ghraib. Ryan is a radio personality on KSTP, a
conservative radio station in Minneapolis, who maintained a daily log of his
activities in Iraq on the radio's web site before it was taken down. Ryan
indicated that Stefanowicz (or Stephanowicz) continued to hold his
interrogation job in Iraq even though General Taguba recommended he lose his
security clearance and be terminated for the abuses at Abu Ghraib.
In an even more bizarre twist, the Philadelphia Daily News identified a
former expatriate public relations specialist for the government of South
Australia in Adelaide named Steve Stefanowicz as possibly being the same
person identified in the Taguba report. In 2000, Stefanowicz, who grew up in
the Philadelphia and Allentown areas, left for Australia. On September 16,
2001, he was quoted by the Sunday Mail of Adelaide on the 911 attacks. He
said of the attacks, "It was one of the most incredible and most devastating
things I have ever seen. I have been in constant contact with my family and
friends in the US and the mood was very solemn and quiet. But this is
progressing into anger." Stefanowicz returned to the United States and
volunteered for the Navy in a reserve status. His mother told the Allentown
Morning Call in April 2002 that Stefanowicz was stationed somewhere in the
Middle East but did not know where because of what Stefanowicz said was
"security concerns." His mother told the Philadelphia Daily News that her
son was in Iraq but she knew nothing about his current status.

Need to Consider Causes of Terror

LONDON, 12 May 2004 - The West is losing the war on terror on a global
scale. Despite the revelations of torture, the US-British policy is
unchanged: See this historic struggle through to its conclusion for the sake
of democracy and civilization; apply overwhelming force against terrorists
and extremists; and show unremitting resolve to root out resistance wherever
it is found. Whether it is Americans in Iraq, Israelis in Palestine or the
West against Al-Qaeda, the approach is the same: A policy proclaimed in the
name of freedom, tolerance and a decent world order that, ironically, could
hardly be better calculated to produce the opposite.
The policy is lethally flawed by its unwillingness to contemplate what lies
behind the hatred: Why scores of young people are prepared to blow
themselves up, why 19 highly educated young men were ready to destroy
themselves and thousands of others in the Sept. 11 hijackings, and why
resistance is growing despite the likelihood of insurgents being killed. To
deal with this reality, we first have to understand it.
The appeal of Osama Bin Laden lies in his capacity to radicalize and
mobilize the world's Muslims.
His denunciation of the US military occupation, his condemnation of Arab
states - often seen as western inspired - his invective against US
domination of the Middle East and protection of Israel, and his capacity to
fight back have all resonated in the Arab street.
There are essentially three strategic responses to this. One, which
President Bush has come dangerously close to voicing, is that this is a
clash between Western and Muslim values.
In fact, this would play into Bin Laden's hands. He wants further attacks by
the US and its allies to draw in more Muslims and perhaps trigger the
collapse of secularist traditions and western tendencies in the Islamic
world. It would also have a dangerous impact in western countries with large
Muslim populations.
A second approach, advocated by leading neocons, focuses on military and
economic power. The Afghan and Iraqi wars were both geopolitical - focused
on the establishment of bases in Central Asia and the Middle East - and
oil-centered (securing the two largest remaining sources of hydrocarbons in
the world). But this again is a losing strategy.
Afghanistan is gradually slipping from US hands, with resistance clearly
mounting as the Taleban reorganize and Russian influence steadily grows. Two
years after the war is supposed to have ended, violence still grips much of
the country and there is no sight of an Afghan Army capable of offering
security.
The Iraq imbroglio is even worse. The death of more than 10,000 civilians,
with 20,000 injured and even higher Iraqi military casualties, is
exacerbated, one year on, by the failure to deliver key public services, the
rushed disbanding of the Iraqi Army, rampant unemployment and a gratuitously
heavy-handed US military.
Nor has Al-Qaeda been broken. US intelligence estimates that it still
operates terror cells in as many as 65 countries, with a 50,000-strong pool
of cadres from two generations of Afghan war veterans. It is resilient for
two main reasons: It is the symbol of resistance in the Islamic world
against western domination, and it has built strategic depth by keeping
operational links with some of the largest and deadliest Middle Eastern and
Asian terror groups.
Soon after Sept. 11, Al-Qaeda had lost 16 of its 25 key leaders, but it
adapted and rapidly transformed itself into a more mobile, flexible and
elusive force than before. Despite the "war on terror", over the past two
years, in at least 18 attacks across the world, Al-Qaeda seems to have been
more effective than in the two years before Sept. 11.
Military control, despite significant successes, shows little sign of being
able to eradicate Al-Qaeda - indeed, the more it is cut back, the more it
springs up elsewhere. But there is a third, alternative approach. Above all,
the political dimension must now be given much greater prominence if the
real and deep grievances that drive Al-Qaeda are to be addressed.
That will undoubtedly require some contentious policy changes to be made. In
Iraq it means a clear UN mandate to cover coalition forces and an early date
for their withdrawal. It means the US making clear that it will not maintain
a long-term de facto occupation by retaining military bases, with effective
control over oil, security and the economy.
The Al-Qaeda threat will never be resolved until the US adopts a more
balanced Middle East policy and is prepared to put the necessary pressure on
Israel to secure a viable Palestinian state.
And rather than pursue a self-defeating policy of enforced regime change
against suspect countries, it would be much better to identify countries
where conditions are likely to encourage the proliferation of terrorism, and
to try to pre-empt this by well-structured international economic aid
programs.
These are not utopian objectives, but the US will not budge without much
more pressure from friendly governments. Britain needs to make the case
strongly that continued British support cannot be unconditional. Given Bush'
s acute concern for Tony Blair's political survival - as revealed in Bob
Woodward's latest book - it is a message that should be well understood in
Washington.
If the road from Bali, Kikambala (in Kenya), Casablanca, Riyadh, Jakarta,
Istanbul and Madrid is not to pass through London or Boston, those policies
would provide a much better defense than continuing to rely exclusively on
military control or advance intelligence, vital though both are.

With several news outlets reporting that Berg's family is angry from the US
government over their son's violent death and revelations that "Berg was
detained by Iraqi police at a checkpoint in Mosul on March 24. He was turned
over to U.S. officials and detained for 13 days" (in other words, he was
detained by the US military just prior to his death) -- (AP 5/11/04) we have
to question what really happened and who was really behind Berg's horrific
murder.
We have received several emails from listeners questioning what really
happened including this one:
me and a friend were discussing recent news events and trying to piece
together the information presented to us, thought you might want to look
into this further, they said in the news that nicholas berg was killed 2
weeks ago (i think), however in the video the culprits who killed him said
they were "avenging iraqi prisoner abuse" but those photos weren't released

2) CNN poll question: "Is the Berg killing a reason for withholding any
remaining Iraq prisoner abuse pictures?" Bush has been reported to be
struggling with question of whether Pentagon should release additional
torture photos. Given that the alleged decapitation of Berg was allegedly
prompted by the first wave of torture photos, Bush could now cite "national
security" issues for witholding additional materials.
3) Berg's last known whereabouts was in U.S. custody.
4) Berg shown in video wearing orange jumpsuit known to be of U.S. issue
(compare with pictures at Guantanamo).
5) Berg mysteriously captured by Al-Quaeda (still wearing jumpsuit). Either
he escaped from U.S. captors or U.S. let him out -- with orange suit and
all -- to be immediately apprehended by Al-Quaeda (before he had a chance to
change).
6) Tape obviously spliced together and heavily edited. Goes from a) Berg
sitting in chair talking about family, to b) Berg sitting on floor with
hooded "militants" behind, to c) blurry camera movement, to d) almost
motionless Berg on floor as head cut off.
7) Audio clearly dubbed in.
8) "Arab" reader flips through pages of "statement" and keeps ending up on
the same page. Perhaps doesn't even known enough Arabic to recognize what
page he's on?
9) "Arabs" have lily-white hands and (other exposed) skin.
10) "Arabs" have Western-style body posture and mannerisms.
11) When Berg decapitated, there was almost no blood. If Berg were still
alive at this point, with the cut starting at front of throat, blood would
have been spraying everywhere. Berg's severed head, the floor, Berg's
clothes, and even the hand of the "Arab" who decapitated Berg had no visible
blood on it.
12) Berg's body didn't move while on the ground. Although held down, Berg
would have tried to instinctively wiggle and writhe away from captor's grip.
13) Camera angle made it impossible to see if Berg's eyes were even open.
14) Alleged "scream" from Berg sounded to be that of a woman and was clearly
dubbed in.
15) Berg goes to great trouble to identify himself, providing information
about his family. Why? To elicit greater sympathy? Or to provide a
positive ID. FBI visited Berg family in an attempt to "verify his
identity". Guy in video looks very little like Berg photos provided by
family.
I believe that Berg (or this lookalike character) was first killed (perhaps
by lethal injection, poisoning, etc.), then decapitated after dead (explains
lack of blood spraying everywhere). Berg was killed by Al-Quaeda (known to
be a CIA - Mossad joint venture). Berg video released at height of furor
over U.S. torture of Iraqis and just before Bush was to decide whether to
release additional torture videos. Now torture videos will be witheld from
public for reasons of national security. Now "patriots" everywhere will
laud the virtues of U.S. torture of "enemies". Sensitivity level of public
gets heightened in terms of what's acceptable treatment of prisoners.
Juxtaposed with decapitation, piling naked men into pyramid is nothing.
Such treatment will be considered more and more acceptable even in domestic
situations. George W. Bush sleeps well tonight while Berg family lives in
torture. Serves Berg's father right for opposing Bush and the war of
aggression against Iraq.

Two things are for sure:
First, Berg parents feel that their son was abandoned and betrayed by the US
Government.

Actually I do give the evidence, but I did not, in that message, walk
readers through the deductions and state other commonly known facts that
needed to be taken into account to make those deductions. I have done this
elsewhere. Let's do it again.
The Pentagon was run by the top in the months leading up to 9-11 by Donald
Rumsfled and his even more active and guiding Assistant Secretary of Defense
Paul Wolfowitz, whose Pentagon brain trust included Rothschild agent Richard
Perle, Rockefeller agents Henry Kissinger and Newt Gingrich. Wolfowitz
devised an invasion plan for Iraq back in 1996 and on the day of 9-11 he
called for the invasion of Iraq. You will also recall that Mohammed Omar,
the head of state in Afganistan had offered to extradite bin Laden if the
U.S. would only provide sufficient 9-11 evidence to establish probable
cause. (How easy it would have been IF probable cause really existed.) Now
Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Perle, Kissinger, Gingrich are a powerful team to be
involved with "defending our shores" at a time when the only real threat was
(and is) China -- with Kissinger the man who opened up China (for
Rockefeller) and who has been making money selling the benefit of his
connections with Chinese officials to American CEOs etc. Now, given all
that, it is clear that this group of minds guiding the Pentagon would not
have acted perpetrating 9-11 without taking the effect on Israel into
account. And certainly Israel would gain by having US sons and daughters do
the killing-and-maiming-and-being-killed-and-maimed dirty work of taking
down all of the Moslem world's capacity for resisting Israeli regional
imperialism. We know that if these people were involved in the
pre-meditated frame-up the operation would have to clearly benefit Israel
and not harm Israel -- and, yes, Netanyahu (don't make me look up the
spelling!) said on the first or second day that this event would be "good"
for Israel. This means that if the Rumsfeld "Penta-cons" were complict in
9-11 than it would have to have been a course arrived at through
consideration of Zionist objectives by these committed Zionists. Then the
question is, WHERE THEY COMPLICIT? Well, we have the stand-downs (air
defense and intelligence) all put under Rumsfeld's
"not-without-my-direct-approval" control just prior to the attack. But more
than that, we have Rumsfeld immediately "acting the coverup" -- when
clearly he must have known that it was not the Boeing that hit the
entagon -- both his statements, and the mysterious collapse that occured
after the main fires were out and which all to conveniently destroyed the
visible evidence of the too-small hole in the wall. (Remember, Rumsfeld was
missing for 20 minutes -- said to have been involved in rescuing people
from inside the building -- so here was THERE when rescuers were prevented
from entering the building, and only Jewish guys (Rumsfeld and Col Levin)
have been identified as those "with clearance" who were escorting
(selected) survivors out to safety (remember, only "targeted" people were
assigned to the new offices in the refurbished wedge -- and yes, the
offices of Naval Intelligence (independent rival of the CIA) and defense
accounting auditors were the ones who died that day.)

for his research on stock portfolio diversification. The company's first
federal contracts were for custom-written computer languages that could be
used to build battlefield simulation programs. ... Its profits doubled
between 2001 and 2003, shooting from $22 million (on total revenues of $557
million) to $44 million (on revenues of $843 million). ... CACI is
currently advertising for interrogators to be dispatched to Afghanistan,
Iraq, and Kosovo -- on its website. Would-be interrogators must be
comfortable working under "moderate supervision" providing "intelligence
support for interviewing local nationals and determining there [sic] threat
to coalition forces. Must be able to work with interpreters to gather
intelligence information from multiple sources."

Private Contractors and Torture at Abu Ghraib, Iraq

Two private military contractors are being investigated for their role in
torture allegations at the Abu Ghraib prison, Iraq: CACI International, Inc.
from Arlington, Virginia, and Titan of San Diego, California. CACI supplied
at least one interrogator while Titan supplied at least two translators
named in a 53-page classified internal Army report written by Major General
Antonio Taguba that have dominated news coverage all over the world. (see
box)
A total of four men -- Steven Stephanowicz, John Israel, Torin Nelson and
Adel Nakhla -- are named in the report. All of them were assigned to work
with the 205th Military Intelligence Brigade, a unit that is currently
stationed in Germany and Italy in support of V Corps, under the command of
Colonel Thomas Pappas.
According to the Army report:
Stephanowicz, a CACI interrogator, "[m]ade a false statement to the
investigation team regarding the locations of his interrogations, the
activities during his interrogations, and his knowledge of abuses." Further,
investigators found, Stephanowicz encouraged Military Police to terrorize
inmates, and "clearly knew his instructions equated to physical abuse."
Israel, apparently misled investigators, denying that he witnessed any
misconduct. The report says that Israel should not even have been in the
place because, he "[d]id not have a security clearance." (It's not clear
whether Israel works for CACI or Titan but CACI officials have denied
employing Israel.)
Nakhla was questioned about the treatment of several detainees accused of
rape and quotes him as saying that two Army sergeants made the prisoners,
who were naked, do "strange exercises" and then "started to stack them on
top of each other" after handcuffing them and shackling their legs.
One civilian stands accused of raping a juvenile Iraqi inmate but the name
of the civilian is not revealed in the report.
"In general, US civilian contract personnel (Titan Corporation, CACI, etc),
third country nationals, and local contractors do not appear to be properly
supervised within the detention facility at Abu Ghraib," military
investigators concluded.
Investigate the Interrogators
William Lawson, the uncle of Staff Sergeant Ivan "Chip" Frederick, one of
the soldiers named in the report who is currently facing a court martial,
told CorpWatch that his nephew told the family that the company employees
were partially responsible for the abuses.
"He tried to complain and that he was told by superior officers to follow
instructions from civilians, contract workers interrogating the Iraqi
prisoners. They said go back down there. Do what the civilian contractors
tell you to do and don't interfere with them and loosen these soldiers up
for interrogation."
Lawson says that the company employees should be investigated and prosecuted
if necessary. "I've spent 23 years in the military including time in
Vietnam. I love this country but I will not allow my nephew to be used as a
scapegoat," he said in a phone interview from his home in Newburg, West
Virginia.
In 2000 Congress passed a law allowing criminal proceedings against Defense
Department contractors working abroad, after civilian contractors with El
Segundo-based DynCorp escaped prosecution on accusations in 2000 of running
a prostitution ring in Bosnia.
CACI, however, denies the allegations and maintains that its workers have
done "a damn fine job." "During a conference call Wednesday with investment
analysts, J.P. "Jack" London, CACI chief executive, said that he still had
not received any information from the government nor had any charges been
filed against the company.
Meanwhile the company has refused to divulge information on its workers in
Iraq but details have been leaking out. Stephanowicz, from Telford,
Pennsylvania, is the son of Jean and James Campbell, who told the Washington
Post that they were reserving judgment about the accusations about his work
in Iraq. "He's 7,000 miles away. How are we supposed to know what's going
on?" James Campbell said.
Another company employee is Joe Ryan, who kept an online blog about his work
at Abu Ghraib. The blog was hosted on the web site of KSTP-AM, a St. Paul,
Minnesota radio station, but has now been removed from the Internet.
In an April 21 entry, Ryan described the praise he and his co-workers
received after turning in an interrogation analysis. "The command was
thrilled and once again the CACI folks have set a high standard for the
younger soldiers to follow," he wrote.
A "Khaki" Background

Up until this ugly juncture CACI, which employs roughly 6,300 people, had
quietly pursued an aggressive business strategy, focused on expanding by
acquiring weaker companies, and pumping up its business with the federal
government such as personnel support at the Kelly Air Force base in Texas
and the McLellan Air Force base in California. Its profits doubled between
2001 and 2003, shooting from $22 million (on total revenues of $557 million)
to $44 million (on revenues of $843 million).
Today CACI, like most military industry players, boasts a roster of former
soldiers and spies, including board members Michael Bayer (former Vice
Chairman of the Pentagon's Business Board, and advisor to the Air Force,
Army, U.S. Naval War College, and Sandia National Laboratory), Barbara
McNamara (ex-Deputy Director of the National Security Agency), Arthur L.
Money (former assistant Secretary of Defense), and Larry Welch, (an ex-Air
Force General who served on the joint chiefs of staff during first Bush
adminstration).
But unlike the other military contractors -- aerospace giant Boeing, whose
former exec Darleen Druyun pled guilty last month to criminal conspiracy
charges, or Halliburton, which is suspected of massively overcharging the
Defense Department for gas trucked into Iraq -- CACI has generally stayed
out of trouble.
Indeed, just a few days ago, CACI, Inc., a Virginia-based military
contractor, was basking in the glow of success. In March, the firm, whose
prime business is selling computer systems to the Pentagon and U.S.
intelligence agencies, swallowed up a competitor, prompting the Washington
Post to pronounce the company ready to "compete for the biggest and most
lucrative government technology contracts." While other businesses continue
to struggle notably those whose fortunes aren't hitched to the "war on
terrorism" -- CACI was reporting growth reminiscent of the dot-com era, on
April 21 reporting a 37% surge in net income.
Outsourcing war
CACI is currently advertising for interrogators to be dispatched to
Afghanistan, Iraq, and Kosovo -- on its website. Would-be interrogators must
be comfortable working under "moderate supervision" providing "intelligence
support for interviewing local nationals and determining there [sic] threat
to coalition forces. Must be able to work with interpreters to gather
intelligence information from multiple sources."
The job requires "a Top Secret Clearance (TS) that is current and US
citizenship," according to CACIs site, and candidates must "have at least
two years experience as a military policeman or similar type of law
enforcement/intelligence agency whereby the individual utilized interviewing
techniques."
These private-sector positions exist because the military has downsized its
interrogation units in recent years, several military analysts told
CorpWatch. The cutbacks came as part of longtime Pentagon plans to trim its
personnel levels while expanding spending on tech and weapsons systems, said
David Isenberg, an analyst who follows private military companies for the
British American Security Information Council. In earlier days, before the
ongoing privatization of war, interrogators would typically be trained at
intelligence schools, located at posts like the Armys Ft. Huachuca in
southern Arizona.
Meanwhile, CACI continues to downplay its role in the toture controversy. In
a canned statement issued, May 5, President and CEO J.P. "Jack" London said,
"CACI does not condone or tolerate or endorse in any fashion any illegal,
inappropriate behavior on the part of any of its employees in any
circumstance at any time anywhere. If, regrettably, any CACI employee was
involved in any way at any time in any of the alleged behavior that occurred
in Iraq and has been reported in the media and elsewhere, for those
employees I will certainly personally take immediate, appropriate action."

A Time for Truth

With pictures of the sadistic sexual abuse of Iraqis in Abu Ghraib prison
still spilling out onto the front pages, it is not too early to draw some
conclusions.
The neoconservative hour is over. All the blather about "empire," our
"unipolar moment," "Pax Americana" and "benevolent global hegemony" will be
quietly put on a shelf and forgotten as infantile prattle.
America is not going to fight a five- or 10-year war in Iraq. Nor will we be
launching any new invasions soon. The retreat of American empire, begun at
Fallujah, is underway.
With a $500 billion deficit, we do not have the money for new wars. With an
Army of 480,000 stretched thin, we do not have the troops. With April-May
costing us a battalion of dead and wounded, we are not going to pay the
price. With the squalid photos from Abu Ghraib, we no longer have the moral
authority to impose our "values" on Iraq.
Bush's "world democratic revolution" is history.
Given the hatred of the United States and Bush in the Arab world, as
attested to by Egypt's Hosni Mubarak, it is almost delusional to think Arab
peoples are going to follow America's lead.
It is a time for truth. In any guerrilla war we fight, there is going to be
a steady stream of U.S. dead and wounded. There is going to be collateral
damage - i.e., women and children slain and maimed. There will be prisoners
abused. And inevitably, there will be outrages by U.S. troops enraged at the
killing of comrades and the jeering of hostile populations. If you would
have an empire, this goes with the territory. And if you are unprepared to
pay the price, give it up.
The administration's shock and paralysis at publication of the S&M photos
from Abu Ghraib tell us we are not up to it. For what is taking place in
Iraq is child's play compared to what we did in the Philippines a century
ago. Only there, they did not have digital cameras, videocams and the
Internet.
Iraq was an unnecessary war that may become one of the great blunders in
U.S. history. That the invasion was brilliantly conceived and executed by
Gen. Franks, that our fighting men were among the finest we ever sent to
war, that they have done good deeds and brave acts, is undeniable. Yet, if
recent surveys are accurate, the Iraqis no longer want us there.
Outside the Kurdish areas, over 80 percent of Sunnis and Shias view us as
occupiers. Over 50 percent believe there are occasions when U.S. soldiers
deserve killing. The rejoicing around every destroyed military vehicle where
U.S. soldiers have died should tell us that the battle for hearts and minds
is being lost.
Why are we so hated in the Middle East? Three fundamental reasons:
Our invasion of Iraq is seen as a premeditated and unjust war to crush a
weak Arab nation that had not threatened or attacked us, to seize its oil.
We are seen as an arrogant imperial superpower that dictates to Arab peoples
and sustains regimes that oppress them.
We are seen as the financier and armorer of an Israel that oppresses and
robs Palestinians of their land and denies them rights we hypocritically
preach to the world. Until we address these perceptions and causes of the
conflict between us, we will not persuade the Arab world to follow us.
What should Bush do now? He should declare that the United States has no
intention of establishing permanent bases in Iraq, and that we intend to
withdraw all U.S. troops after elections, if the Iraqis tell us to leave.
Then we should schedule elections at the earliest possible date this year.
The Iraqi peoples should then be told that U.S. soldiers are not going to
fight and die indefinitely for their freedom. If they do not want to be
ruled by Sheik Moqtada al-Sadr or some future Saddam, they will have to
fight themselves. Otherwise, they will have to live with them, even as they
lived with Saddam. For in the last analysis, it is their country, not ours.
The president should also offer to withdraw U.S. forces from any Arab
country that wishes us to leave. We have already pulled out of Saudi Arabia.
Let us pull out of the rest unless they ask that we remain. Our military
presence in these Arab and Islamic countries, it would seem, does less to
prevent terror attacks upon us than to incite them.
A presidential election is where the great foreign policy debate should take
place over whether to maintain U.S. troops all over the world, or bring them
home and let other nations determine their own destiny. Unfortunately, we
have two candidates and two parties that agree on our present foreign policy
that is conspicuously failing.
