While installing two preview programs on Windows 95:
Intel InternetPhone and Netscape Communicator
while running the InstallShield Self-Extracting setup I received the
following error:

WinExec Failed: Return=2
with only "Ok" as the response.

After clicking OK the program terminates.
I'm just wondering if this is a problem with my Win95 Setup
or problem with the above Beta programs.

I have the following Setup

* Pentium 100
* 32Mb Ram,
* ATI Video Card
* USRobotics FaxModem
* SoundBlaster AWE

I have no other problems with Windows and it behaves very
stable:)

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanx in advance

Dks

Error #2 is "Out of Memory". Check to see if you have adequate disk
space for your Windows 95 swap file. Windows 95 REQUIRES adequate
disk space for its normal operation, REGARDLESS of how much RAM you
have. I would also suggest that you explicitly specify the min and
max size of your swap file.

As suggested by Mark, I tried increasing the size of my swap size
but unfortunatelly with no luck. (Same Error)

Here are my resource stats at the time of installation :
System and User Resources at 80% free, GDI at 90%

According to System Monitor:
38 Megabytes of allocated memory
Min of 40Meg Swap File, Max 160Meg, 144K of Swap File in Use,
I have over 400 Megs of free space on my HD's.
I checked my Hard Disks for errors, defragmented them, and check for
viruses.

Thanx again for any help, and Merry Christmas to everyone.
Dks

No, error 2 is "File not found".

"Out of memory" is error 8.

Sometimes these messages from InstallShield can be caused by
having an INST32.DLL or INST16.DLL file lying around on your
system which is interfering with the one that IS wants to use. A
common hiding place for these files is as hidden files on your
desktop.

The Tweak UI "Repair System Files" will try to fix this problem.

Good advice. Save yourself a penny and read computer magazines
online. There are many.
