I do not know if it is the OS, the Browser, the hard drive, the
batteries or the cats have been hacking the laptop again, but I can't
restore the bookmarks for Pale moon on the laptop. This is getting
to be a real pain.
I have tried to restore,- but there seems to be an issue reading
json or jsonlz4 files, end result - no bookmarks restored and the
bookmark file is now totally empty.
I tried to restore from html backups. Can't tell if anything is
happening - it doesn't even pop up a rotating hourglass.
I even got Clever - and added a new profile ("Bob"), copied a
completely different profile there, and instead of using profile
"Albert" pointed it to Bob.
Something flashed up on the screen the first time - and since then
"Why yes, we have no bookmarks today."

I'm asking here because it involves an XP laptop. But does anyone
know of a workaround to convert jsonlz4 files to either html or plain
old json formats?

Arrgh.

(And anyone who rants that I should not be using XP on a Laptop - send
me your banking details so I can replace it.)

The question was asked: "Is Hindsight overrated?"
In retrospect, it appears to be.

-0700 typed in alt.os.windows.xp the following:
Not sure what was the magic trick, but after several attempts at
installing and reinstalling, and copying over from other versions, it
finally worked.

Thanks for all the help.
