I just checked my installed programs and found I have 7 programs
installed for Microsoft Net Framework. There are at least four verso
1.0 Hotfix
1.1
2,0 Language Pack DEU
2.0 Service Pack 2
3.0 Service Pack 2
3.5 SP1
4 Clint Profile
4 Extended.

This seems excessive for supposedly one program. What can I remove?

.Net isn't a program. It is used by programs which were written
to use the .Net interface. Such a program could require any of
the 4 versions of .Net you have installed, so you won't know
until a program stops working if you remove the versions of .Net
that it needs, or read the documentation of all of your installed
3rd-party applications and check their .Net version requirements.
