I would appreciate some help...
I have two programmes on my laptop that I never installed, and no matter how
many times I delete or uninstall them, they keep coming back.
The one is called Comet Curser and the other is Gain, some weather finding
programme.

Any way to remove them and any ideas how they got on my computer (should I
be worried about my security?)

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks
Altus Momberg

AdAware (www.lavasoft.nu) will get rid of Comet Curser, don't know about Gain
but read here:

ad-aware isn't the "bomb" it once was. try out pest patrol.
http://www.pestpatrol.com/
you can get an older version on kazaa which will update nicely from pest
patrol's website.

Ad-ware will take care of those programs just fine. Plus its free,
PestControl is $40- a little pricey for a program that just scans the memory
and registry.

What gives you that idea? Actually, PP does a complete file scan if
it is enabled. It's registry scan is less complete than AdAware's, but
I am hoping they know where to look.
The price pays for the frequent updates that are, of course, needed.

Try SpyBot Search And Destroy. It's free. You might also block Comet
Cursor in your firewall as follows. I don't know about Gain.

address 208.178.50.0, mask 255.255.255.0
address 209.83.171.0, mask 255.255.255.0

They probably got on your computer when you downloaded software or
data that you thought was free.
