Kind of a newbie here. I recently had to install a fresh copy of Windows XP
Home. I have since removed the other, but now before Windows boots I have a
choice of which one I want to use. Could someone show me how to delete the
selection for the one I no longer use?

Thanks in advance.

Open boot.ini in Notepad. You will see something like this (which is the
Pro):

[boot loader]
timeout=3
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect

Compare this pattern to yours and remove references to the other OS.
(Make a backup of the file before editing in case you need to replace it.

If you don't want to get "dirty" messing around with the boot.ini file, do
the following:
Go to the Control Panel

Select "Performance and Maintenance"

Select "System"

Select the "Advanced" tab

Under "Startup and Recovery", click the "Settings" button

Uncheck the box next to "Time to display list of operating systems:"

Click OK to apply the changes.

Next time you restart, you should bypass the OS selection menu.
