This version of XP runs really well, but a problem has occured.. I'm trying
to make a flatbed scanner (Acer 320P, Parallel port) work with it.. I've
installed the very latest Twain driver, which is MiraScan v3.42.. The
application I'm scanning with is Ulead Photo Express v4.0.. It keeps telling
me that the scanner is not found, and I should check that it is on (it IS),
and that the cable is firmly connected (it IS).. I have tried all versions
of Parallel ports, my motherboard supports, which is ECP, EPP (v1.7 & v1.9)
and the ordinary one.. But the scanner remains dead, and I KNOW it's
working, because it works with another PC..
I'm thinking that maybe XP doesn't like the MiraScan driver, even though it
is the latest one, and that XP didn't tell me it was a bad driver.. And it
can't be the application (Ulead Photo Express v4.0), because a Twain driver
is a Twain driver, no matter which application you're scanning with
(right..??)..
What am I doing wrong? Are there any other (universal?), and better, scanner
drivers maybe?
Well, I hope someone knows something..
Thanks,
Bach
Same problem here only with a HP Scanjet 4200C scanner with PrecisionScan
software. Scanner is installed properly but the software doesn't see the
scanner. I guess we'll have to wait for the software programmers the make it
work with XP.

Same here with a ScanAce scanner -- when pressing "Scan" the
application just closes, no warning...
