That's the same model I made the mistake of buying. I kept it but
wiped that Lindows crap off the hard disk and installed Windows XP.
Yet another boner for Open Sores.
BEAVER
*SNIP mindless drivel*
To all interested readers in C.O.L.A.
The above poster, The Beaver, is attempting to divert your attention away
from Linux by posting negative comments and should be ignored.
The poster is trolling. A "troll" is a post that is designed to illicit
emotional response from the readers thus diverting attention from the real
purpose of the newsgroup. The real purpose of the newsgroup
comp.os.linux.advocacy is to advocate the Operating System known as Linux
(which may also be expressed as GNU/Linux).
The above post belongs in alt.flame or possibly alt.linux.sucks. It does
not belong here.
The correct type of posts that belong in this newsgroup can be found in the
C.O.L.A. FAQ which is posted here on a regular basis. If you have not read
the C.O.L.A. FAQ, I suggest the following types of posts:
Posts advocating the use of Linux (duh)
Posts sharing anecdotal evidence of postive experiences of linux.
Posts with links to positive articles that advocate the use of Linux.
As well, the following types of posts definitely do not belong in C.O.L.A.:
Posts disparaging the use of Linux, its users, or Linux itself
Posts disparaging Microsoft products (as tempting as it sometimes is)
Commercial Advertising of any sort. :)
Thank You, and have a great day!

Linux: Because you can!
All Rise for the Microsoft Anthem: "BAAAAAH!"
As usual, another wannabe journalist idiot trys to write
about linux.
What a maroon. The key to success is an education. I
suggest the writer to get an education and also beaver the
butt crust, as there is no short cut to knowledge.
I had a revelation while I was on the can:
To operate a motor vehicle, a driver is expected to have a certain degree
of knowledge. Perhaps Windows has gotten to the point where we don't expect
much knowledge -- maybe we expect less than we should. This goes up against
the argument that Linux has to be as easy as Windows to be adopted.
Maybe dumb Windows users should be expected to have a clue.
For instance: remember 5 years back, when it was funny to say you're
computer illiterate? Now it implies ignorance and unwillingness to change.
Perhaps this will evolve to the point where it's not okay to know only
enough about a computer to operate Windows.
God, I hope so.
Response: Based upon some of your responses, you yourself are indeed lacking in
education, character, values and morals. You have absolutely no credible standing in these
Microsoft newsgroups. Go forth and find another forum for your contrite blubber.

Actually I'm with you on that one, Beav. The whole Lindows concept
sounded pretty lame to me. Apparently their execution sucks too.

But that's where you lost me.

I'll second that. Maybe wal-mart should try a different distribution? It
seems all the problems stem from their 'Click'n'Run' rubbish, sounded few
too much like MS's subsciption services...

He was posting to a linux newsgroup.
Based upon your above response, you yourself are indeed lacking in
education, character, values and morals. You have abolutely no credible
standing in the Linux newsgroups. Go forth and find another forum for your
contrite blubber.
BTW, your "newsreader" is either misconfigured and the margin settings are
way too wide, or it's simply because the Outhouse/Outhouse Excess family
of products are awful and should be discarded out of hand. If I were
making the decision, I wouldn't waste another second on such poorly coded
software, and seek out better newsreader products, such as Agent or Free
Agent. While I was at it (this is still me making the hypothetical
decisions), I'd dump the Outhouse/Excess products altogether and get a
genuine email program, too. Something like Eudora or Pegasus. Something
that can actually compose and send email in a professional manner.
Something that can wrap lines at a proper length without making numerous
paragraphs out of one when quoting, and can wrap at reasonable lengths
when composing emails without breaking sentences up into several one-word
lines. Those buggy Micro-Soft products really should be avoided until they
get them stable and semi-useable.

Windows isn't unstable. It's spontaneous.
Do you even know what contrite means? By your usage of the word, I
would venture that you don't. Even though contrition must certainly be
a great part of your everday life when trying to "help" people with
their broken OS.

It's not surprising that you left out some rather positive comments
the author made concerning his experience with LindowsOS:
"I attached a multisync monitor and rebooted. To its credit, the
system now started up quickly without a hitch. Without any user
interaction or configuration, I found myself looking at a KDE desktop.
Now that's good. Very good. No configuration dialogue, no
installation, no work at all.
"The desktop is very pleasing to the eye. It has the appearance one
would want for replacing a Windows system. Any Windows user would
probably feel comfortable with the desktop in very short order. There
is even a "Welcome" icon on the desktop which takes the user through a
short introduction to LindowsOS. So far, so good. "
That's because M$ is an illegal monopoly and the public
should know that they are the victims of the P.T. Barnum
effect. A sucker is born every minute. And You?? What do
you have for an education?? My credentials?? You better
thank me for getting the bugs out of DODs' cruise missiles
back in the 70's. Did we use M$ products at all in the 80's
or 90's?? No! All your o/ses are toys and insecure... let
alone stable.
The JSTARS program uses OpenVMS and finally the military has
settled on OpenVMS for mission critical use. Remember that
the U.S. Navy used NT to run a ship... had to tow it back
in. Otherwise, you Microsoft dinks can take your crappy
software and shove it.
I think they could install a good linux distro and still
make a decent profit.
At least all the software will run.
Wow I'm impressed. You did that all by yourself? :P
So, GreyCloud would be one of the suckers, eh?
;-)
Apparently you can't read headers either.
As a small team, yes. How about you?
At least I have made my contribution to your safety.
Nope. I don't own any M$ products. Of course you can't
read headers I take it.
Need I 'splain it to you, Greycloud? PT didn't say a sucker is born every
minute. Oops. Too late.
Good grief...two sub-morons blabbering between themselves.

Like being presumed a thief and a liar before using a product? If so, use M$ XP.
And apparently the stigma of 'stupid' just hangs on you like white on rice.
That fact about the 'saying' is so obscure, that it doesn't mean much to anyone
unless it's been decided somewhere to have it taught that way. I just asked 3
people, all over the age of 65 who said it...their answer? P.T. Barnum. Like I
said...no one will care that it wasn't Barnum, because it's become so used as
if it was, it won't make any difference. Will you tell us that *you* knew it
*wasn't* Barnum who said it? I bet if you tell the truth you'll tell us you
thought it was Barnum also...if you tell the truth that is.
It doesn't matter. He didn't say that Barnum spoke those words, He
simply referred to the "P.T. Barnum effect". Since the words were
apparently spoken about people going to a P.T. Barnum exhibit, his "P.T.
Barnum effect" statement is not inaccurate.

Duh! Of course he did.
And you're one of them.
Does your wallet feel a lot lighter after buying XPee??
How did the snake oil taste??
