This may be slightly OT, but I couldn't find another ng directly related
to this program. The question is this: Partition Magic tells me upon
loading that there is a problem with my second hard drive's partition
table - the CHS, LBA, and phyiscal settings are all different. It says
that it has determined that it can be adjusted to xxxx. I'm a little
hesitant about allowing PartitionMagic to perform the fix, for all of
the drive's partitions work (they aren't all NTFS or FAT32). Does
anyone have any experience with PartitionMagic and this problem. Should
I trust it to perform the fix?

thanks,
trey

You wouldn't do that. You'd have a drive over to PowerQuest's headquarters
and have a rib breaking frenzy, and you know it.

I'm guessing but are you running a dual boot using Suse Linux?

If so, don't fix these "errors" or Linux will not work. As far as I am
aware there is no real work around for this problem other than to install
your Linux Boot to floppy. Then (99%) I'm sure you can fix the problems
without causing other problems along the way.

Ray.

What error(s) does a Partinfo (PartInNT.exe (Windows) or Partinfo.exe (DOS))
show you? Should be one or more in the range of 100 or above...

It shows errors 108 (partition didn't end on cylinder boundary) and 109
(partition ends after end of disk). PMagic itself shows error 110.

The jerk got lucky. There are 999,999 upset monkeys sat at their keyboards
right now.

1. Backup your files
2. Start PM from your rescue disks with the /IPE switch:

PQMAGIC /IPE

3. Select the affected partition (Partinfo shows you which one)
4. Select Resize/Move partition, move it a little and click OK
5. Select Resize/Move partition, restore its position and click OK again
6. Apply the pending changes and the errors are gone.
