Hi there,

I'll cut right to the chase, whenever I now boot up, just after the POST I
now get an error saying 'invalid boot.ini' then it say's booting
'c:\windows' and everything works fine.

I've tried scandisk (full)
Virus Checking
Accessing the recovery console and trying 'fixboot' command
Tried looking through 'msconfig'
I've not messed with the disk in any other way either by software or other
means

Has anyone got a suggestion on how to fix this? It doesn't seem to affect
WindowsXP in any way.

Oh, by the way my Drive is partitioned (both WindowsXP NTFS, windows on C:
and other stuff on D:)

Thanx in advance

And what does it say in your boot.ini file?

You wouldn't happen to be using a Sony? I had a similar problem. I installed
Linux on it see if it would autodetect everything. Once I confirmed that I went
to use the system recovery discs to restore XP. At like 63% it came up with an
error (forgot what). I tried to reboot and get the exact same message. Finally
I used fdisc to format the drive, and then the recovery worked this time. It
came from Sony with the OS on 16GB c and another 64gb on d

| How do I get to my boot.ini? (I'm sorry if that sounds like a dumb
| question!)

Open Notepad. In the File menu, Open C:\boot.ini (if C is your sys drive).
Copy and paste so we can see it.
(You will need to unhide files in My Computer, Tools, Folder Options, View
in order to see it).
