Basically, it's what my title says: Whenever i try to access my F
drive, which has all my music on it, my computer will freeze for a few
seconds, and then it will reboot. I haven't done anything different,
and when i open the explore menu, it can see the files, its just when i
try to play any of them, then it reboots. It is very strange and i was
wondering if anybody has this problem and if so, how can i fix it.
Thanks

I would try running chkdsk on the drive.

This page has info on chkdsk -

Turn off "Automatically restart" in your System Properties, Advanced tab,
bottom Settings button. Post the STOP Error and it's parameters.

Eric blabbered in alt.os.windows-xp:

Yes, their are some things you can do:Check device manager to see if
their is any problems their, then go to disk management to see if you
have a healthy f disk. You can try replacing the f disk to see what
happens and try running winaso registry cleaner or pconpoint registry
cleaner.

As a stand-alone message to me, what does all that mean to me?

It is further alleged that on or about Wed, 03 May 2006 00:16:55 GMT,
in alt.os.windows-xp, the queezy keyboard of "relic"
<nos...@relic211.cjb.net> spewed the following:

He is coming on to you, run.

i've already done a check disk and when my computer restarts to do it
and it is going through, in the middle my computer will again just
restart, and it doesn't progress farther than that. My F drive is
another physical drive, it isn't a partition off my main drive

even when i set the "automatically restart" to off, it still restarted
after trying to access anything on the drive.

Don't snip the thread.

Are you saying that you did /not/ see a BSOD "STOP Error"? Go into the
Administration Tools and see what error(s) were posted in "Event Viewer" at
the time.

Here's whats really baffling me now: i made a image a couple of weeks
ago, and i restored my hard drive to the image. I first deleted the
partition and reformatted, however. When it was all finished, the damn
hard drive did the same thing. so maybe it is just the hard drive...

"<message reconstructed so it will make sense... this once>" -- meant what
it said. Bye.
