Hi,
any ideas how I can change the computer's name. Not the current user, but
the one in the windows system when xp was installed. I dont want to
reformat. Even completely delete the name, as there is only one user so it
serves no purpose, but the original name is all thru the files and folders.

Any Help Appreciated.
Roo

I am now Mr Alt Winxp.
I will be this groups new mascot.

You will all cheer "Go, zyco, Go!"

And I will smirk with delight.

Hi Relic,
I went to that site you mentioned and downloaded the exe file and made the
changes,
dont know yet if it worked, altho
When I go start/my comp/"C" drive/documents and settings, I get
All Users
Default Users
Favorites
and one folder with the original owners name.

When I right click and try to rename, I get
"This name is a systems folder and required for windows to run properly.
It cannot be moved or renamed."

All the cookies and temp internet file bear this name, as of 30 mins ago.
Can I change it some where in the root directory and if so where.

Thanks Roo

Don't bother trying to change the user name. Create a new user (you) then
remove the original-owner user. It will ask where you want to save the data,
etc. from the original-owner. Look through them and keep what you want,
delete the rest.
