The Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel is the safest. Sometimes, remnants
will still be left afterwards and can be removed with a Registry Cleaner. Do
NOT use Norton's WinDoctor or Microsoft's RegClean to remove entries from the
registry!
Here's a couple of pretty good RegCleaners that are safe with XP:
RegScrubXP:

RegCleaner:

Just don't remove anything that you don't know what it is... Ask first if in
doubt.

WinDoctor is OK in areas other than the Registry. It often recommends fixes
to the Registry that will render XP unusable. If you use it, never do any of
its suggested fixes for registry entries.
