Hello all!

I just got my computer back from school and I don't remember my
password. I would like to be able to log back into my account,
without reinstalling if possible. Is this possible?

All help is appreciated.

At the Welcome screen press CTRL-ALT-DEL twice and log on with the
user name "Administrator". You can then change the password for the
users in the Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer
Management.
If this is the Home Edition: to start into the Administrator account
run Windows in the Safe Mode.

WOW! That's secure! Still, Microshaft and Security never have gone
together.

Interesting point .... HOW?

When I had Win98 and Win2000, the key F8 during boot up enabled me to go to
safe mode.

Now, when I boot up WinXP (Home edition) I get no such option, F8 does
bugger all.

How should I get into safe mode with WinXP??

Thanks :-)

Hold down F8 a couple seconds before POST completes.

" WOW! That's secure! Still, Microshaft and Security never have gone
together."

You still need an Admin password. Do you really think they are that
stupid?

That'll get him into trouble if his BIOS uses f8 for, say, launching a boot
menu... as mine does. He should do it after POST.

You can't "SECURE" a computer with just software. I could take the
hard drive and use custom made software to crack anything on the
drive. The question is.... can I crack a nt or w2k domain from a
client.

They've always had DOS tools for getting around the NTFS security.
This is nothing to worry about.

Yes. The timing of that first press will have to be determined by trial
and error. I tell Gateway owners to wait till the progress bar gets past
90%. On mine, I can hold it down at any time.

Power On Self Test---just before Windows begins to load. You will find the
right time, probably by trial and error. You want to press F8 after the BIOS
has tested the keyboard, or you will get a keyboard error (it thinks a key
is stuck), but before Windows starts, or you will miss the timing and end up
in Windows.
Sorry, but trial and error is the best I can tell you.
