what is Compatible mode ?

Try running it in Compatibility mode. Right-click on a shortcut to
it, select the Compatibility tab, and select Windows 98 or from the
drop-down. This feature works for many pre-XP stuff, but not all.

It's located on the file's Properties dialog box accessed by
right-clicking on an executable, or a shortcut to it (maybe both).
But I know that if you right-click on a shortcut to an executable file
and select Properties, there will be a Compatibility tab.
