it wont let me restore to anything other that the same day that it
actually is . i have 2343 mb of hard drive space availeable to c drive
any ideas.........please?

Our you sure your talking about System Restore you have a least 1 checkpoint
per day to restore to. More info please

it is true that system restore oly keeps a restore point for that day by
default....
i believe there is a setting somewhere to alter this as i have done it and
have five restore points to choose from...
try the settings tab..

its good when it works tho i restored and it went very well....
