I've been using ME for a long time and have switched to XP. It's
working fine, but the programs don't load as quickly as Microsoft
boasts. Anyway to correct this? I'm working on a PIII 933mhz system
with 524megs of memory and two 40gig hard drives, if this helps.

Thanks,
Brian

Few ways to speed up winXP with no hassle:

1.
Disable 'system restore'
Control Panel -> System -> System Restore -> "Turn off system restore
on all drives".

This will cripple your ability to un-do changes in your system, but it
significantly increases system speed and stability (at least for me it
did).

2.
Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Performance Settings -> "Adjust
for best performance".

This disables some visual effects and speeds up the system.

3.
Remove all sorts of TSRs (memory resident programs), startup programs,
that you don't use.

4. Disable "auto protect" and "script blocking" on your anti virus.
This speeds up the system but makes you vulnerable to viruses. The
choice is yours. I disabled "auto protect" but I update my virus list
and scan the computer once a week for viruses. I also scan incoming
emails.

Cheers
Gigi
