Hi all, I just got a new Western Digital hard drive ( WD800JB ) and was
planning on using their disc copy utility to transfer the information from
my old drive and putting it away for a backup. A friend told me that this
was not a good idea because Windows XP doesn't like that and I would have to
load Windows on the new drive then transfer the information I want off my
old drive.
I got the new drive so I wouldn't have to do this, can anyone offer advice
or tell me their experience using disk copy utilities.
Thank you.
PM.

Many have done the same thing using ghost without any problems whatsoever.
Try it and see.
The worst thing you might have to do if for some reason your fuckchop friend
is right, will be to put your old disk back whilst you sort out another
method.

See "How to Move a Windows XP Installation to Different Hardware"
You can transfer all other data by copying the file and folders in the
Explorer.
