I have a dual boot system running ME and XP Pro. I have gotten the Master
Boot Record virus warning 3 times now. The first time I chose ignore, the
2nd time I chose accept, and the 3rd time I chose the last option. None of
them worked, or if they did I don't know what they did. Every time this
happens when I reboot my computer I do not have the OS boot screen where I
can choose which OS I want to boot into, it automatically boots into ME and
I am forced to reinstall XP just to get it up and running again. This lasts
for about a week until I get the Master Boot Record virus warning again. No
matter which option I choose it deletes XP as an option to boot into. Then
after reinstallation I have an extra set of XP OS's to choose although only
the most recent one works. I now have 4 XP Pro choices and one ME. I just
got the warning again and dread rebooting the computer. Please help with
this! I saw nothing that regarded this particular problem in the forums...
When this happens the OS boot screen does not appear at all. It goes
straight to ME like XP isn't even installed. Luckily I have XP on it's own
5 gig partition so I lose nothing in this process but it's a lengthy and
tiring process reinstalling an OS once a week. Is this a problem with
Norton? Is there a way to get the boot screen back without having to
reinstall? How about getting rid of the other 3 XP Pro choices in the boot
screen that no longer work?
Thx for any and all help with this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should check this with the local gurus before you proceed, but...
Wouldn't a MBR format fix this?
TD?
Is this a BIOS warning, if so go into the BIOS and turn it off, them run a
full virus scan to be sure.
It may just be that your BIOS doesnt recognise the new bootsector
information and is erring on the safe side.
I think if you had a virus then your deskfan will be spreading summat about
the room by now!!.
