I have an IBM ThinkCenter 52, 80gig HDD, 4gigs of ram and capabile of
booting from USB, HDD, CD/DVD. I have been successful in booting several
distros, currently running PCLinuxOS. I have not been able to even get this
Sabayon to get beyond the choices screen. I tried with the DVD, and tonight
tried with a USB stick made using UNetBootin. What is the deal with Sabayon?
I know my machine can handle new distros.

Check the http://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?title=En:Sabayon_Linux under the
Boot parameters and workarounds for problematic Hardware and try out options.

The issue is one or more kernel options which Sabayon uses which makes your
machine not be able to boot the kernel.

Like you, I am running PCLinusOS, but have liked what I saw in Sayabon and
tried to install it as an alternate system, several times. I have found
much the same problems you are addressing. This is not anything new with
them and I do wish they would make things a lot more straight forward. It
looks to be a good disto, if you can figure out how to run it, and keep it
running.
