we have a YUM server with RHEL5 repo(its a local repo).. now I want to
update one of my RHEL4 entire system/one package to RHEL5 i am facing
so many dependencies issue.. do any one have solution for this. How to
update/upgrade from RHEL4 to RHEL5 with out any dep. issue.
Please note:
1)I dont want to connect to RHN..
2)I am able to update from RHEL4u3 to RHEL4u7(with an RHEL4 repo) and
RHEL5 to RHEL5u4(with a RHEL5 repo)
3)Dont want to do upgrade through installer method.

As far as I remember RHEL4 is based on an early version of Fedora, which don't
support YUM updates to a new major version, you will most likely need to do a
CD update and I don't think the license you have will cover a such update.
Contact RedHat for more support.

If you're going to be upgrading, have you looked at the CentOS option?
Just thinking about that pesky licencing thing here.

At work we do use CentOS on machines that aren't critical, but on some
machines we have to run RedHat as our hardware deliverer Dell requires that
you have RedHat installed or else they won't give support on some systems
(mainly storage solutions connected to a Linux server), so it's not always
possible to switch, but I don't know at all how it looks like at the OP.
