I am looking for an mp3 encoder which I could use to encode my personal
music library. I know there was a software 'blade encoder' around, but as
far as I know it has been removed from its home site.
Any help would be welcome.
Thanks
Remy
n.b. I am using debian/potato
The encoder that I by far prefer over any other one (but of course may
be enlightened ;) is lame. (Well, L.A.M.E,really...)
It is text-based but results sound absolutely amazing !
Go to: www.mp3dev.org/mp3

Personally, I use LAME, but doubt there is a really noticable difference.

Then there's also the open-source Vorbis OGG format, the only problem is
that commercially available players don't use this format (yet anyway?):

Also, they mention an xmms-plugin, but I couldn't find it in the cvs-tree
