I'm trying to find out the "best" c library available for Linux, because
everwhere you see binaries for libc5, libc6 and glibc. Now what's the deal
with all of these, and which library will be the most supported in the
future ?
Wouter
libc5=glibc1 & libc6=glibc2 iirc...
Not entirely true. libc5 was based upon glibc1. However, there is no
libc6, instead you have glibc2, which can be treated as libc6.
Which does not answer the question at all!
If you want to do some "enhaced stuff" like: (please correct/add to the
list)
-ipv6 networking
-multi-threaded applications
-multi-lingual support
You probably want to use glibc2.
I would not stick to old libraries, since most people (including me)
will not update their library every time a new release pops up.
If You set up a new system, use the new distributions (debian 2.1
"slink", SuSE, Red Hat, whatever, You name it..)
