I will in college and am behind a firewall. I can get ICQ to work in
windows by giving it my http user name and password to access external web
sites so it can work. Unfortunately will the icq clones for linux have
firewall support I am yet to find one that has http proxy support so icq
can access external web sites which is basically the icq login server. Is
there anyway around this with any icq clones or can I tell linux for user
name and password somewhere else so it will already have the stuff required
to access the net with out having to always log on?
Thanks for any help

BTW I am running Mandrake 8.0

the 2 best clients in my opinion are.

licq - www.licq.com
gaim - gaim.sourceforge.net

both have proxy support. licq is by far the most complete icq client,
however gaim does multiple protocols (ics, msn, aim, irc, etc.) licq
development appears to be at a standstill while gaim is updated (in cvs)
multiple times daily.

hope this helps,
ryan
