Only if you don't understand the technology.

It's like "free public private parking", where you get a private spot, for free,
which is open to the public, on a first come first serve basis.

Or free public key cryptography, which is all about privacy.

Or, for that matter, privacy on the public Internet.

There should be free VPN servers on the net which should work on Linux.

You can try this one: http://www.bestfreevpn.com/

Here's the setup procedure for Ubuntu Linux (or any Debian-based Linux):

sudo apt-get install network-manager-openvpn
sudo restart network-manager
sudo wget -O /etc/openvpn/ca.vpnreactor.crt https://www.vpnreactor.com/OpenVPN/ca.vpnreactor.crt

Left-click on the Network Manager icon in the Ubuntu desktop panel bar:
Network Manager->VPN Connections->Configure VPN
Network Connections->Add
Choose a VPN Connection Type->OpenVPN->Create
VPN->Editing VPN connection->Connection name=VPNReactor OpenVPN
VPN->Editing VPN connection-> Gateway = (choose one of the following)
chicago.vpnreactor.net - Middle U.S.
denver.vpnreactor.net - Middle U.S.
denver2.vpnreactor.net - Middle U.S.
denver3.vpnreactor.net - Middle U.S.
fremont.vpnreactor.net - Southern California
houston.vpnreactor.net - Middle U.S.
la.vpnreactor.net - Southern California
ny.vpnreactor.net - East Coast U.S.
nl.vpnreactor.net - Europe
uk.vpnreactor.net - Europe
VPN->Editing VPN connection-> Type: select Password
VPN->Editing VPN connection-> User name: Create a username
VPN->Editing VPN connection-> Password: Create a password
CA Certificate: = /etc/openvpn/ca.vpnreactor.crt
Click Advanced->General tab->Use LZO data compression = [x].
OK->Save

To connect to the free public vpn server:

Click on the Network Manager icon in the panel bar.
VPN Connections->VPNReactor OpenVPN
The Network Manager icon will begin spinning.
You may be prompted to enter a password.
If so, this is your system account keychain password,
not your VPNReactor password.

You're on VPN!

I don't know why I'm in this group because I don't know anything about
linux.

On Friday 21 February 2014 15:01, somebody impersonating Aragorn
conveyed the following to alt.os.linux...
Please note that the poster who wrote the above is an impersonator. It
is a nymshifter who posts through aioe.org - I myself post through
eternal-september.org - and he is someone who runs off his mouth about
things of which he has no understanding in several of the newsgroups I'm
subscribed to.

His most recent posting identity before he decided to impersonate me was
"Wolf Muller", but as I stated higher up, he is a nymshifter and he has
a whole collection of fake names and fake e-mail addresses. He
primarily seems to reside on alt.os.linux.suse and alt.os.linux.ubuntu.

I get pretty good speed with the free vpns at vpngate.net
especially the ones near the top with the best quality score.
