How can I filter out the nonsense messages in this newsgroup?

I'm using Thunderbird 68.10.0. Can someone tell me how to filter out
the nonsense posters and/or messages that appear in this newsgroup.

They are From: frelw...@gmail.com

I have my Tb Menu bar active. I select one of the unwanted messages and
notice that the email addy in the From is frelw...@gmail.com. Then I
use the Menu/ Message context menu/ Create Filter from message/

If you leave all of the defaults, the filter is already populated for
the correct From email address and the default is to 'Delete' which
actually means to hide from your view in the thread pane. An alternate
filter is to Mark as read.

The name of the filter is unpopulated so you can name it frelwizzen or
you can name it something else. You can also use that function in the
next window after you finish w/ the first to Run now. I also activate
my filter log so I can keep up w/ what filters have done.

First of all you need a good newsreader like claws-mail, that will
filter on anything in the headers.

Looking at the first line of the headers, you will notice all the
nonsense messages have one thing in common. That is, that first line
contains 2002:a

I filter on that and they are all gone.

answer my Thunderbird questions I rarely have the same categories, tabs
or options they talk about in their answers. In the present case, I have
to click the news server name in the left pane and there is a category:

advanced features

with an option: manage message filters.

That is another way to get to the filters function, but on my system it
doesn't work right. That is, I have a filter and the filter has a name,
but that route doesn't show it.

The way I set up a filter which I described earlier causes the filter to
be applied to a *group* not the entire news account. When I access the
'news account' message filters, my filter for the alt.os.linux group
named frelwizzen doesn't show up.

If your provider didn't allow messages from googlegroups it's possible.
Either that or you did a filter a long time ago and forgot about it.

You are right, I have a filter for him and forgot. It is very rare that
I set a filter to "delete", most times I kill the thread or the
subthread, and this can be undone fast for checking.

He must post something pretty bad and too often for me having done that.

You do as you want, but I'd say you can keep it like that, there is no
reason to check now. I stop reading more than two sentences from his
messages a long time ago, and never saw improvement.

I don't know if it's pretty bad, he is sick and sometimes he forget his
pills or he escape and restart sending messages. But for the too often,
yes, he does. I don't count, but it looks like he send at least twice more
messages than every one else combine here. Saying he is flooding is not
an overstatement in his case.
