When you boot your SCSI kernel should recognize your /dev/sda disk.
If it doesn't ;
- Make sure your kenel supports SCSI.
- Checkout the SCSI HOWTO at ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/
- run fdisk on your SCSI then setup to create a linux file system.
- You have a good SCSI cable.
- Make sure your controller and disk are terminated properly.
If it's a cheapo Pseudo SCSI controller it may not work - the SCSI HOWTO
will tell you. I have an Adaptec 1542Cf - it works fine.
