I have a Linux box I am setting up to an XP network and to the I'net.
Tyhe L box gets to the web okay and I can see the Linux box in My
Network area of Exporer.
Two things..
1. How do I also 'see' the win network boxes and drives on my Linux box
using the Gnome Nautilus GUI.
2. How do I give the XP box permissions to access the Linux box as I am
told I need this when I click the Lbox in Explorer to see the Linux drives.
Thanks,
ringo
You don't say what distro/window manager you're using, but in KDE there
is something called LinNeighborhood that is supposed to work like
Network Neighborhood in Windows (sorry for lack of details, but I don't
use it). In any case, you must be using Samba (I assume you are
already) with smbd and nmbd running, and have the same users that are
on XP set up on the Linux box. Then your need to smbadduser and that
will let XP see your Samba shares in Network Neighborhood. Post back
with your smb.conf file for more help.
Cheers,
Malke
