Hi all
My partner is interested in switching to Linux from Win98 _but_ the hold
out she is reluctant to surrender Quick Books (an accounting program that
is Win-based). It processes in real-time rather than by batch and I am
trying to sort something out in the Linux world without having to resort
to Wine if I can avoid doing so.
Any suggestions? I've done some Google searches and have asked on other
forums but nothing has come back that has been all that useful so far, so
am casting my net out a little wider.
Any ideas?
- Andy

Have you tried this link?

http://www.findaccountingsoftware.com/

I was trying to look for an accounting package for Linux at this site, but
there were so many of them. I don't know if it is worth your time to narrow
them down. If you find any good software, I would be happy to hear your
suggestions.

Take a look at Appgen's MyBooks for Linux.

This is the URL for the MyBooks trial:

http://www.appgen.com/products/mybooks_download2.html

This is the URL for the MyBooks Professional trial:

http://www.appgen.com/products/mybooks_professional_download.html

You can read about both starting at this URL:

http://www.appgen.com/index.html

I plan to evaluate the Pro version in the next few weeks for a local
small business customer of ours that is running Mandrake 9.1 now. So
far from reading about it I like it. Only testing will tell for
certain if it's a keeper.

To OP: Just in case you missed it this post is about his own product.
Not saying it isn't good, just that you have to be aware of his perspective.

To Dan: I looked at your web site, it's very specific to the American
Hospitality industry. I don't think I would be able to use it for my
Computer business here in Australia. Like could it handle quartly GST
reports?

You also don't have any prices listed. There is no download link so I
asuming it isn't Open Source, right?

Mandrake 9.1 installs gnucash by default. It seems to be a flexible one,
giving choices from simple household accounts to a full set of business
books.

If you are not installing Mandrake, here is the gnucash site.
