I originally had a 4Mb ATI-Mach64 in the PC but I found a 16Mb Voodoo
2 Banshee lying around so I put that in. In windows I had problems for
about the first 7 boots but Linux had no problem, picking it up first
time as the correct card. However, the card should have OpenGL support
and Hardware acceleration but neither is supported.
When I look at suseplugger under Display it tells me I have a "Card
Expert Dragon 4000". Under Unknown it shows a "3Dfx Interactive 3Dfx
Banshee" and an "ATI MACH64 MACH64GT". Neither is configured but both
claim to be available.
When I click on the "Card Expert Dragon 4000" or "3Dfx Interactive
3Dfx Banshee" both show me the Yast2 screen and both sat they are a
"3Dfx Voodoo Banshee (tdfx)" with 3D acceleration "Disabled". If I ask
to change card SaX2 pops up and tells me I have a "3Dfx Voodoo
Banshee" with 3D acceleration "Not Configured"

Software
KDE: 3.1.4
Kernel version: 2.4.21.99-default
SuSE: 9.0

Hardware
233Mhz PII
128 Mb of RAM
16Mb Voodoo 2 Banshee
SB Audigy 2
Sony DVD drive
Typhoon wireless keyboard and mouse

I get 53-64FPS in glxgears, what should i be getting?

I want to be able to run some 3D Linux games will this be possible?

I cannot run DVD's, as it's too slow, is this the chips fault or a software problem?

Depends on the 3D game. For something like UT2K4 you'll need to make a
couple of upgrades:

Hardware
233Mhz PII -> Upgrade to something PR 2000 or better
128 Mb of RAM -> Upgrade to 512Mb DDR PC2100 or better
16Mb Voodoo 2 Banshee -> Upgrade to 64Mb GeForce FX5200 or better
SB Audigy 2 -> Fine
Sony DVD drive -> Fine
Typhoon wireless keyboard and mouse -> Fine

I think I get something in the 2000 area for glxgears...
