I was trying to download SuSE Linux 7.3 version from one of the Suse web
sites, but could not figure out the exact files which needed to be download.
Could you please help me by giving me the correct url or the directory &
file name to be downloaded.
Thanks for your help in advance!

They only offer a evaluation ISO which only works off your cd. It is a
full working copy of the SuSE OS but like I said it only works off a cd.
You can download it here ===> http://www.linuxISO.org
I have heard though that you can download it and install it via ftp but I don't
know to much about this since I have not tried it. Hopefullly someone will give
more enough on how to download and install it via ftp. Too tell you the truth
though SuSE Home and Pro retial versions are worth the purchase for a full
working copy in my opinion.
The fastest server : ftp.gwdg.de
At first, download three floppy-images (bootdisk, modules and modules2)
from here :
ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/7.3/disks
Write this images on a floppy (do not mount the floppy), using i.e.
following command : cat bootdisk > /dev/fd0 . When ready, insert the
bootdisk and prepare your pc to boot from floppy. Restart your pc. Get into
the text-mode installation (yast1). Load needed modules (drivers) from the
modules-disks. Choose installation via ftp. The ip-adress for ftp.gwdg.de
is 134.76.11.100, insert the adress. The directory to install from is
/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/7.3/ . Start the installation. Works
fine, but you ought to have a fast connection.

this only works if you are connected to the internet by a LAN. install
floppy is surely not capable to maintain a modem connection. In such a
case you have to download from ftp the whole 7.3 tree first. Better use
another partition than this where you want to install. on www.suse.de
you'll find mirror sites. I used wget for download. check md5sum after
dowload. dont forget to expand inst-sys.tar.gz file before install

Thanks a lot for replying my post. I would try downloading the iso images
to my hard drives and then burning cd for install. Hope this works.
Thanks again!
