What do I need to get mpegs to play in Kaffeine? Using openSuSE 10.2.

Thanks.

Please do not crosspost.
I am also wondering what you have done to solve the problem yourself,
because a simple search gave me several paes of solutions.

I googled kaffeine+mpeg and found only a broken link to mplayer project
for the newest xine-lib and the win32 codecs. What's wrong with
cross-posting?

add repo's to yast
at least packman & guru ;-)
http://en.opensuse.org/Package_Repositories

you need:
w32codec (windows formats)
libdvdcss (dvd)
libdvdread (dvd)
libdvdplay (dvd)
libxine1 (mpeg) ----> look good to the name ;-)

test the system ?
delete the dir "/home/user/.kde/share/apps/kaffeine"
and start kaffeine again ;-)

Ok. Just checking that you actualy did some basic searching. I want
people learn to fish, not handing out fish. :-D

I asume that you want to watch movies, not so much use Kaffeine.
What you do is add Packman and Guruน as installation sources.
Then you install with YaST the following:
1) MPlayer, to use to play movies
2) MPlayer plugin to have mavies in Firefox as well
3) win32-codecs to be able to run the various formats

I am not sure wether or not the rest will be selected automagically

If people reply to all groups, the following can happen:
a) They do not read any of the other groups, so do not know what is and
is not allowed.
b) They do read all of the groups, so a crosspost did not enhance
anything

If people reply to only one group then the other groups have no idea
what is going on and it will end in a multiposted thread where several
people will end up giving the same answer, wasting time that could have
been spend on solving other issues.

crossposting and multiposting are only good from a selfish point of view
of the poster. He gets his answer quicker without thinking of all the
waste he is producing.

e.g. I have no idea if somebody else is now asnwering in one of the
other groups alone, so perhaps I could have done somethings else.

In theory crossposting is possible, yet I still have to see a single one
situation where it was valid, including the ones where I did it.

When I get the urge, I sit back and decide which one group is the MOST
on topic or relevant or helpfull for that specific situation and always
found an answer.

This needed to be including some filenames and somebody already answerd.
Sorry.

Add libdvdnav, if you want to use the DVD menus.

Stupid jerk. Get lost.

These are not advocacy groups. The only thing you achieve with your
gibberish shite is showing your incredible stupidity.
