I have been a loyal smoothwall user since the 1.0 days.

I upgraded to 3.0 when it was released, and have not been satisfied since.

I am sad to say that I downed a copy of IPcop, and I am debating making
the change. I might just reinstall 3.0 and see how it goes. I saved my
2.0 pref's, and loaded them when I did the 3.0 install. If I do
install, I will not use the 2.0 pref's.

I liked smoothwall, but 3.0 has too many issues I do not like.

That's all.

Thanks for listening.

So I procrastinated for weeks, until this smoothwall 3 express system
stopped accepting new rules. Not sure why. This was the last straw.
So I burned IPCOP 1.4.18 onto a cd, and was ready to reinstall. At the
last minute, I decided to give SW 3 one more try. I reinstalled SW,
reconfigured (not using my 2.0 settings backup floppy). I reconfigured
my settings manually. Applied the current patches.

I am happy to report the my smoothwall express 3.0 box is up and running
without any noticeable problems. All the issues I was having on the
first install seem to be working now.

This machine is running on an old Pent Pro 200. I will use smoothwall
again until I need to address the hardware issue. Perhaps I'll revisit
the ipcop then, but for now Smoothwall is here to stay again.
