Which script should launch cupsd?
I searched the archives but I can't find the answer. From Slackware
Linux Essentials, I'm guessing cupsd should be launched in one of the
rs. scripts. But which one?

I'd put it at the end of /etc/rc.d/rc.S.
Just write out the full commandline (I don't know the
options and args you'd use:
cups -d -g -p 2 # fictional line
You could put, right before that line:
echo "Starting CUPS" # whatever
There could be a better place to put it, but
that's where I stick stuff like that.
Sid
grep cups /etc/rc.d/*
But you shouldn't need to edit any scripts; just do
chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.cups
rc.M will run the script if it's executable, and silently ignore it if
it's not. This goes for most of the rc.* scripts in /etc/rc.d/ .

This is such idiotic advice it could only come from ''Sidney''. rc.S
is run on boot, for every runlevel, including single-user. cupsd
should only run in multiuser runlevels. rc.S is also subject to get
overwritten or moved if the sysvinit package is upgraded or reinstalled.

That's why you're just a usenet crank. I certainly hope nobody has
taken your poor advice; fortunately, it's easy to fix if they have.

Bad advice, as someone else has pointed out already.

That's because you're a drooling, ignorant, clueless psychopath who knows
nothing at all about Slackware, or Linux in general.
Bugger off, dimwit. Leave the advice-dispensing to those who actually
know something about what they're talking about.
To the OP, if you can't see the fucking obvious script in /etc/rc.d that
is used to start CUPS, you're fucking retarded as well, and shouldn't be
using Slackware at all.
Bugger off, too.

I don't care what you think, post, or do.
None of it will have any effect on me at all, Dan C[unt].
One of these years you are going to realize that.
You are just another dickless loser with an anus for
a mouth and no life hiding in a room somewhere and
shitting on the Internet.
Three of this retard's sockpuppets in one thread.
What a fucking loser.
