Trying to setup WINE so I can integrate it with M@cro$of^ .NET
framework. Going through the setup process at WINEHQ. I was able to
pull it off with Slack 12.X but I seem to have forgotten the command
to remove the Samyak-Oriya fonts from Slack 13 so I can complete the
install/modification process to recognize the .NET framework.
On Ubuntu the command is like:
$ sudo apt-get remove ttf-oriya-fonts
Couldn't find the command on Google to effect the same with Slack 13.
Best regards,
Kurt
I didn't do a full install but I don't think Samyak-Oriya is part of
Slack 13. If it is, you can use (as root)
removepkg ttf-oriya-fonts
All installed packages are listed in /var/log/packages where you can
grep for the font name if the package has a different name.

Bugger off, Win-droid.

cd /var/adm/packages
grep oriya *
ttf-indic-fonts-0.4.7.4-noarch-1:usr/doc/ttf-indic-fonts-0.4.7.4/ttf-
oriya-fonts.copyright
seems that oriya is part of the 'ttf-indic-fonts-0.4.7.4-noarch-1
packages but I don't know if you want to remove the whole packages

Don't even bother to answer him, just ignore/kf him and be on your way.
I had to remove ttf-indic-fonts-0.4.7.4-noarch-1 using pkgtool.
AND THEN
I had to go to /usr/share/fonts/TTF and peruse the fonts.dir file. In
that file there is mentioned
Oriya and Samyak in one of the lines. That messed winetricks into
thinking the fonts were
still there. I simply took the editor in MC and deleted the reference
to it. I did a grep oriya*
in that directory and that's where the hangup was found.
Winetricks then installed the .Net framework. Now getting the apps to
work after that is done is
another deal. :-)
Hope this helps if anyone wants to install the microsoft .NET
framework in WINE with Slack 13

Why in ghod's name would anyone want to do such a stupid thing as that???
Sheesh.

Dan,
The reason is I have some hobbyists' rocketry apps there aren't any
Linux alternatives for. Been using Slack since '94 when I dual
booted. I don't game
and don't do garbage like getting MS$ Office or IE running under
emulation..... That's been stupid to do for years with native
alternatives that are available.
Unfortunately, there are some specialist's apps that one has no
choice. Either run MS, run under emulation or don't run it. I chose
emulation but unfortunately
am stuck keeping an XP drive around for a laptop for the rare app I'm
stuck running there.
I've tried a variety of Linux versions over the years and I always
come back to Slack. Actually, I stick something on an extra machine
and didn't touch my main
ones. I really wasn't going "back to Slack" as I never left it.:-) I
hated the loss of control. Ubuntu is another name for doing a dance
to get a new non-Ubuntu app
installed by Sudo-ing around!
I am surprised as to the success I had compiling code over the
years just following the scripts and really not knowing exactly what
was going on.
People need to stop being elitist over a distro and stop flaming those
with rudimentary questions. Give one a bit of direction and win over
a new devotee to
the distro. Kurt

Uh-huh. The "rare app" like what you're using now:
> User-Agent: G2/1.0
> X-HTTP-UserAgent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1
Yeah, I can understand that. There aren't any browsers or newsreaders
available under Linux....

Right. Who do you think you're bullshitting here?
Bugger off and stick to Noobuntu.

From what I can guess the last post comes from a LAN in a private hospital
or kinda chem lab where the poster is maybe not the final chooser in
what should be how and when should be how...

No idea about that but someone clearly had a relaxing beer and
you may like to have one too, now ;-)
