how fix blank screen on Acer Inspire 5741??

Hi there,

I'm installing Salckware64-14.0 on a friend's laptop, Acer Inspire 5741,
get a blank screen on reboot after install.

Screen blanks and backlight turns off about the time screen to switch to
Intel DRM mode. If I enable framebuffer I get four penguins up to the
point where drm switching happens. I'm terribly confused at the moment
because I've brought up three slack-14.0 boxen in the last week.

Wondering what boot line options might get this thing going?

Extra info: screen backlight is off, but text shows faintly under strong
light. Lappy gone back to friend for now, I'll have another go in a day
or two.

Try to boot with

video=SVIDEO-1:d

as boot parameter (info from:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Intel_Graphics )

No joy :( Here's a shot of the four penguins top of screen under bright
light -- LCD backlight is off, me clueless, need to JFGI...
