I hesitated to even post this here on AOLS since I'm not very
active here lately, but after seeing a recent flurry of posts
from some familiar names (that I don't see in other places),
I figured I may as well mention it here too...

To make a long story short, http://cardinal.lizella.net is on its
last legs and needs to be replaced as soon as possible. That box
hosts quite a few things that the Slackware community apparently
likes, so we are hoping that the community will help us with the
financial demands of replacing the machine.

See the original message (with more details) here:
http://lists.slackbuilds.org/pipermail/slackbuilds-users/2011-May/007448.html

Note that the http://cardinal.lizella.net homepage has a handy
donation button (that does not require a paypal account) if
you'd prefer to use that.

Finally, this is just a reminder that after we purchase a box
to replace cardinal, any unused funds will be given directly to
Patrick Volkerding, and the donation button will disappear.

Thanks in advance for your consideration,

-- Robby Workman and the rest of the Cardinal Crew :-)

Thanks to the whole crew for all their unpaid work. I donated while the Euro
is still strong. After tonight it may all go down South. ;)

No, thank you for your donation, and everyone else who donates. To be
brutally honest I never anticipated so many people would be so
generous. I think this says it best.

Slackware users can be some really cool people.

And wow, did we get it! I don't know where to begin or even what to
say really. I'm not generally an emotional person, but the response
from the Slackware/SlackBuilds/GSB/AOLS/etcetera communities has just
about been enough to bring tears of joy. Seriously, folks, we never
dreamed that the results would have been this outstanding. Basically,
you contributed enough for us to get a better server than what we were
planning, and we're still going to be able to send a *substantial*
amount to Pat after paying for it. Once everything is in place with
the new server, and Pat's got his money, we'll give some more details.

We'll definitely have a "thanks" page on the new server in a prominent
place, but in the meantime, I'd like to go ahead and publicize this
list of donors. These are special people, and they deserve all the
praise that they can get:

Chess Griffin

Once again, thanks to everyone who helped us on this. At this
time, the need for donations is gone, and I'll be removing the
"donate" button on http://cardinal.lizella.net as soon as this
mail is sent. Thanks again, folks! :-)

I think it's a testament to the fine work y'all do that over 60 people
donated money in, what, two days?

Cool! That gives me *exactly* 10,000. Can I get a free upgrade to First
Class on my next flight?

Okay folks, here it is: http://harrier.slackbuilds.org

Be sure to have a look at the "contributors" page, and if any of you
contributors would like to have your name hyperlinked to your website
or some such, let me know (either here or private mail is fine).

Thanks again from the Cardinal Crew (are we the Harrier Harem now?) ;-)
