I have Slack 14.1 64 bit which means that Acrobat Reader is a bridge too far. I could of course install a 32 bit partition just to get Acrobat reader installed. But I wonder if there is an Open source pdf reader that has the ability to interpret the links to a web page in a pdf document? I am adding these to my current project. My wife's laptop has Windows 7 on a partition and I just downloaded the latest Adobe Reader to that partition. The web links inside my document work fine on that rig and using that partition.

However firing up that laptop every time I need to check a file si a bit tedious. Plus I have to wait till it is not occupied by the spouse.

So is there an open source pdf reader that can be used on Slack 14.1 64 bit and that can handle those web links? xpdf can't and Okular can't. Maybe Linux can't either.

All suggestions welcome.

Use alien-Bob's multilib scripts and you can run acroread 32 bit
version.

I don't know why your Okular won't handle web links embedded in a PDF
document. My Okular (version 0.12.5) certainly can, and does.

Never mind. evince will use these links. That is less trouble than jumping through hoops to get 32bit Acroread to work.

Thanks for the quick reply.

xpdf can, provided you have your urlCommand config file option defined.
Check the xpdf man page.

Agree.

I tossed Adopey Reader after I discovered the plugin was squirrely.
Okular works no better, but also no worse. At least Okulare doesn't
freeze my browsers (FF/SM) w/ each use. The "fill in" edit function
works equally lousy on both. Print it out and fill in blanks with a
fountain pen! ;)
