Another newbie question. I discovered how to put the Modem Lights applet
icon on the panel (BTW, it's how I connect; is there an easier way?),
but it doesn't show any activity from my modem, even though I am clearly
online. Am I doing something wrong? I'd like to have a visual indicator
of modem activity, but this thing seems not to work. TIA.

Modem Lights WAS also the primary way in which I connected as well. I
too discovered the lights in Modem Lights are turned off. I now use the
Network Control Device which I leave minimized to the desktop for easier
access (even though I have the icon on the tray as well). This works
better for me since I leave my linux box on all the time.

BTW. Join my linux website at: http://www.iwebsitedesign.net/linuxredhat9/

Tell your friends about it and ask them to sign up also. I would like
to get an active forum going. Thanks.

Jeff:

I will be very interested to see if anyone has any information for you on
this subject. I have been trying to find answers for the past several
days about Modem Lights. I love all the "Google is your friend" answers
-- pretty much what I've found on Google is that a lot of people can't get
it to work and the responses to their questions pretty much about to RTFM.

Anyway, I can get the lights to work fine if I connect through KPPP or
Network Device Control, but I can't connect or disconnect with Modem
Lights -- so I would be interested to know how you managed to configure it
so you could connect.

I did see something in the past couple of days -- I know this is
rudimentary, but check the settings on the colors. Apparently, in
some instances they are set to black, so even though the lights are
working, you can't tell.

I also noticed that the lights started working after I corrected some
permissions issues.

Good luck,

Tam

Sonneman lights are more than just lighting fixtures, they are works of art. They brighten any space, both literally and figuratively. Our lights have been designed by renowned modern light fixture pioneer, Robert Sonneman. His namesake lights have been praised for their form and function for over half a century.
