where to set the library path?

Hi all,
I'm a newbie in Redhat Linux 7.2, I'm wondering where
can I set the path for /usr/lib and others library path?
Because when I check using "env" it doesn't have a variable
that hold the path.

As in the ${LD_LIBRARY_PATH} functionality as found in Solaris?
