On 9.1 when I FIRST log out I get nice
little window saying 'Log Out'
After the first log out following power up
I get a large window with 3 options and
a cartoon Dragon thing which I believe
is a KDE mascot ?
Can I get rid of the dragon ?
How ?
Its minor yes but ..... well ....
I gotta start somewhere :)
TIA
Milkboy
The figure is Konqui, the KDE mascot. You replace him by replacing the
file ~/.kde/share/apps/ksmserver/pics/shutdownkonq.png. Exit the dragon ...
I'm unsure as to why you see the pic on some occasions, sometimes not.
Do you start KDE using startx from the command line, or from a display
manager (a login screen)? By default you should never see it in the
former case and always see it in the latter case.

I dont have /ksmserver :( ?
Cant locate the png file
How can I search for a hidden file ?
I use a display manager
I guess the 'clean' on is the default Mandrke manager
log out as I had that all the time when using Mdk display
manager theme
I got the dragon when I changed to KDE manager
The login side of the KDE Disp Man is better than mdk version
I could log in as root with mdk version

Oh, no prob.
This topic is really well covered, myself remember answering similar
question only yesterday -- google this NG for dragon. There are hundreds of
posts asking how to make this cute dragon to appear. Just do the opposite
to what these people are told to HAVE this dragon. :-)

You *create* the file using the png of your choice, if the file doesn't
already exist. Or you can *replace* the global file
/usr/share/apps/ksmserver/pics/shutdownkonq.png, which certainly will
exist. But that will affect all users.

Not sure I understand this bit. Why not just revert to the Mandrake
display manager?
