How can I burn the mandrake 8.1 iso file ? I don't succeed. I got Nero 5 but
it doesn't function. I have just one file ( the iso file ) on the CD. I
don't have the Mandrake folders ( images, mandrake, rpms...)
Thanx for support. I've lost 5 CD already...

ALways compare the md5sum on a iso download
with the site's copy

md5sum iso_name_here

Micor$oft users could look here
http://etree.org/md5com.html or
http://www.google.com/search?q=md5sum%20dos

Mandrake 8.1 has 3 cds.

Cannot help on the burn question.

Hi Thierry,

Here's what you should do:

1) Cancel "Nero Wizard"
2) Go to "File" and click on "Burn Image..."
3) In the dialog box that will popup change "Files of Type" to "All Files
(*.*)
4) Navigate to the iso file and click "Open"
5) In the following window do not change any settings, just click "ok"

I hope it'll work for you ... good luck

You forgot to tell NERO that this file was a raw CD file, not a file to beburned to
the CD. Somewhere in the Nero menu system is an appropriate check mark to make to
tell it to burn a raw file.

From the README file inthe iso directory
With Nero Burning Rom:
----------------------
Open Nero.
Close the wizard if it is started automatically.
Go to "File"
then to "Burn Image...".
In the next dialog, click on "Image Files (*.nrg)" and select "All files
(*.*)".
Choose the .iso file and accept.
In the following dialog make sure:
- Type of Image is: Data Mode 1
- Block size: 2048
- Image header: 0
- Image trailer: 0
- All the checkboxes are unactive.
Click "OK".
In the next dialog check that the "write" and "finalize" option are active.
Click on "Write".
(Thanks Antonio Asensi)

I had the same problem. Nero just shows its own file types when looking for
a image.
This is what I did.
I right clicked on the image file wile in My computer. This shows you the
name and ext of the file.I then High lighted the name , right clicked a
coose copy. Then wile in the choose image window in Nero I just pasted the
name of the ISO I wanted to use. It worked.

Thanx to all of you !
I did a md5sum test on the iso file as Bit said.
There are 134 files which are wrong or corrupted.
Do you know a FTP site where I can find an iso file which's right ?

Excuse my bad english.
Merci beaucoup.

Does not have to be a bad iso on the site.
I downloaded 3 times from the same site before mine was correct.
I am on cable modem instead of dial up.

Install DAP.

http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/ftpcurrent.php3

Avoid North America & Asia at all costs. European sites are fast most
of the time.

Go to the iso folder. Right-click a file> Properties> copy the
address. Paste it in DAP. You can set DAP up to shut down computer
after completion. I do it before I sleep. :)

nero can master audio cd's better than protools that costs way over £1000,
it CAN burn ISO's, the confusion is merely caused by it's defaulting to a
weird proprietry file extension instead of ISO ( you may or may not know
that that stands for International Standards Organization, so they probably
had to invent a format to be allowed to write software for windows, since
MS hate standards).
Can Easy Cd master audio cd's, I don't seem to remember that?
