Hi to all,

I have just emerged KDE 3.2 on dual opteron and since then I have no sound
output in Xine, Mplayer etc whatsoever. Everything else seems to be working
fine. I can listen audio CD with cdplay, system sound notifications in KDE
also work fine , but I can get no sound when watching AVIs, MPEGs, WMVs etc.

I have tried checking things in KDE's sound system, but everything there
seems to be fine.
Maybe worth mentioning is also the fact that I have in kernel only ALSA
driver for inbuit audio, nothinge else (without OSS emulation, dummy
drivers, generic drivers etc). But anyway, I have several other kernels with
more sound options compiled in (OSS emulation, generic drivers etc...) with
the exactly the same result.

BTW: No matter what I do, Sound System in KDE won't work with "ALSA System".
It requires "Auto" or "Open Sound System"...

Any ideas ?

TIA,

Branko

Search Google Groups for "kde arts sound" and I'm sure you'll find the
answer to this FAQ.

Weird. I've been using Alsa for months now with various versions of KDE
and Gnome, without a problem.

The problem with the world is stupidity. Not saying there should be a
capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the
safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
