The problem Debian has with Firefox and Thunderbird is that the logos
and names cannot be freely used, and are non-free in this respect. The
names and logos also serve as registered Trademarks in most areas of the
world.
This problem is backed by a stipulation from Mozilla that Firefox may
only be called Firefox if it uses their logos and I believe the source
code needs to be fairly if not completely untouched.
So in this case, I'm sorry to report that you're incorrect and that IW
and ID will be staying.

I actually like the debian artwork even more, than the orginal Mozilla one btw.
(e.g. Splashscreen on Iceape)
