Anyone using a USB connected Alcatel Linkzone to install Debian via the
netinst.iso?
I have no problems using mine for connection if Debian already
installed. But I cannot use mine for downloading files from the web for
the install process.

TIA

Yes, I'm USB connected rather than WiFi. But I'll have to read that page
carefully. What I need is an outline of a procedure - which it gives.
I'll likely be able to find the appropriate tool-set. Won't be able to
do anything until this afternoon/evening. I'll post when I've followed
up. Thank you.

Your previous post pointed to
https://www.linux.com/training-tutorials/how-configure-wireless-any-linux-desktop/

I mention for benefit of some FUTURE person having similar problems.

My email provider is having problems at the moment, but I wish successes
recorded. I followed links from initial link leading me to investigate
"ifconfig -a".

This post is for benefit of future.
I'll post success ,,,,, later ROFL
TIA GRIN

If you think that response was strange, you should should have been
looking over my shoulder the last two days ;/

I was able ONCE to use netinst.iso with Alcatel Linkzone to install
Debian. There seem to be at least two distinct failure modes.

If the Linkzone has not been used to connect to the web since last power
up, it WILL fail repeatably.

If it has spent time connected to the web, the install MAY succeed.
Otherwise the error log says the server does not have correct release.
I will have to do some checking to verify that.

I hope to prepare a more detailed report later today.

Thank you.
