Anybody know if it's a good distro for bulletproof music work?

I usually use

qsynth
qjackctl
rosegarden
Zyn-dssi
audacity
hydrogen
yoshimi
sonicvisaliser
kdedlive
simplescreenrecorder

If my chances of having these 'just work' I'd
download it and kick the tires. As it is, even
so-called studio distros like UbuntuStudio and
AvLinux have issues.

There is an AV Linux MX Edition.

http://www.bandshed.net/avlinux/

Is that what you are using?

I'm using that too, it's good as is UbuntuStudio but
neither of those is bulletproof either. For example with
UStudio their flatpacking system does not work with
links as 'home' so it's losing it's usefulness. I was
thinking of trying just MX but there'd be no point
if it isn't better than these other two.

Can you use this.

obs-studio

recorder and streamer for live video content

OBS Studio is designed for efficiently recording and streaming live video
content. It supports live RTP streaming to various streaming sites.

Other features include:
* Encoding using H264 (x264) and AAC
* Unlimited number of scenes and sources
* File output to MP4 or FLV
* GPU-based game capture for high performance game streaming
* Bilinear or lanczos3 resampling

Note that OBS Studio requires an OpenGL 3.2 compatible video card.

My involvement with music does include videos but only by way of backing
tracks or guitar covers or just digital covers (in prep for the former).
I use the listed apps to learn and prepare songs for guitar (took it up
to forestall brain-rot). Once a video is done I just upload it to the
tube or my site and also use it for my practice sessions but I do no
streamingh as such.

There being no do-it-all studio 'studio' all the above apps HAVE to work
or I've got problems. Last night I was bouncing around between Leap and
Tumbleweed and UbuntuStudio and AvLinux cause Audacity wouldn't load in
Tumbleweed, jack_capture failed in Leap, I forget which one went south
in AvLinux and in Ubuntu the Zyn-dssi had not gotten installed when
ZynAddSubFX was installed and I found no jack-capture at all so I had to
go and find it and install it. By the time I got done I was so far past
that sweet-spot when one can jam and shine that I just went to bed
instead :-(
